    Default Derby Worlds Saturday 7th October 2017 Game 3

    A single-seat Sopwith 1 1/2 Strutter bomber assisted by Sopwith Triplanes had to bomb the port. A Roland C.II assisted an Albatros D,III and The Red Baron in his Fokker Dr.1 had to bomb the town.


    Both bombers headed for opposition territory. The Sopwith Triplanes moved to intercept the Germans.

    Amazingly, no-one tried to intercept the Strutter bomber until it was too late.

    With a Sopwith Triplane covering his flank, the Strutter bomber began his bomb run. The Roland hurried back to try to intercept. He fired at the Triplane but his gun jammed.

    Meanwhile, the black Albatros turned right pursued by the Sopwith Triplane, which fired and set it smoking. However, the Red Baron was closing in.

    The Sopwith Triplane turned left and the Roland appeared to be following it. The Stutter continued turning to the right.

    The other Sopwith Triplane continued to pursue the black Albatros but now the Red Baron was right behind him.

    The Dtrutter continued turning right but the black Albatros had turned towards it. The Roland also turned to follow the Strutter. The Sopwith Triplane tried to escape the Red Baron by turning right.

    The Strutter and black Albatros nearly collided. The Sopwith Triplane fired at the Albatros and the Red Baron fired at the Sopwith Triplane. The Red Baron's guns jammed.

    The Roland and second Sopwith Triplane were coming up in support.

    The Strutter attacked the Red Baron. The Albatros tried to escape trouble. One Sopwith Triplane turned right to try to evade the Red Baron. The other and the Roland drew nearer to the combat.

    The Albatros turned right. The Strutter flew past the Red Baron. Both Sopwith Triplanes turned inward to re-enter the combat. The Roland pilot fired at the Strutter.

    The Albatros turned right in pursuit of one Sopwith Triplane but it had gone into a circling duel with the Red Baron. The Strutter, wishing he had a rear gunner, headed for home. The other Sopwith Triplane headed for the Red Baron but flew between the Roland and the Strutter, was raked by the Roland pilot's machine gun and set on fire.

    The Albatros continued turning right. the burning Sopwith Triplane turned left and nearly collided with the other Sopwith Triplane which turned right. The Red Baron also continued circling. The Strutter continued to head for home. The Roland turned in pursuit. The Roland's pilot fired at the Strutter and set it ablaze.

    The burning Sopwith Triplane turned left again. The other Sopwith Triplane continued turning right but flew into the line of fire of the Albatros, which had also continued turning right. The Red Baron also intended to turn right. The burning Strutter turned and headed for the cloud with the pursuing Roland shooting at it.

    I'm gagging to know what happened next, particularly to the Black Albatros, since its' pilot ( your visitor) is wearing a Leicester Tigers shirt I'm an Exeter Chiefs fan!!!

    The Red Baron turned to the right. I am sorry to disappoint the black Albatros fans but it went down in flames.

    However, a new red Albatros entered the fray and immediately engaged the burning Sopwith Triplane, which now looked in serious trouble because the Red Baron was closing from behind. The other Sopwith Triplane turned right. Meanwhile, the Strutter sideslipped and this allowed the Roland to gain ground and its observer opened fire.

    The Roland turned so that both of its guns could shoot at both Sopwith Triplanes. Assistance from the red planes was coming.

    The Roland flew past the Sopwith Triplane. The other Sopwith Triplane Immelmann turned and found itself facing the Red Baron, who had turned in pursuit. They exchanged fire.

    The Roland headed for home, whilst the red Albatros turned to face the Sopwith Triplane, which had flown past the Red Baron. The other Sopwith Triplane turned to come in on the Red Baron from the side.

    One Sopwith Triplane turned left to avoid the red Albatros, which flew straight on into the line of fire of the other Sopwith Triplane, which had turned sharply to its right. The Red Baron Immelmann turned to get onto the tail of the first Sopwith. The Roland continued to head for home with the gun unjammed and the fire out.

    The Sopwith exchanged fire with the red Albatros, which had Immelmann turned. However, the Red Baron had also performed an Immelmann turn and was now behind the Sopwith again.

    The shots from the Sopwith set the red Albatros on fire. The Albatros flew straight ahead, the Red Baron stalled and the Sopwith turned to its right leaving itself in the Red Baron's gunsights.

    The Sopwith continued turning right. The Red Baron turned right to follow it and they almost collided. The Albatros turned left in pursuit the Sopwith.

    The red Albatros turned left as the Red Baron advanced to engage the Sopwith head on.

    The Sopwith flew on. The Red Baron turned to the right and the Albatros, now free from flames, turned left and got in a shot at the fleeing Sopwith.
