Finally got the photos edited from Capclave. This time around, I decided to run a totally ahistorical Demolition Derby. As such, a few special rules applied:
1. The playing surface was a 60" diameter, set for up to 8 players. Each opponent started in the approximate middle of a sector, within 1/2 standard ruler distance of the edge of the table. Players were warned not to fly off the table (standard rules, flying off is the center post over the edge of the table). Consequences of this were a C damage card drawn, and the aircraft re-set to 1/2 ruler distance, facing the center of the table.
2. Players who flew around the edge of the table to avoid combat would find themselves suddenly attacked by my pair of Handley-Page O/400s.
3. The players were allowed to choose any one single-engine plane in my inventory.
4. As this was another one of my learn-and-play games, my role was limited to games master, tracking all damage, keeping track of legal moves due to damage, reminding the players that they really had no friends in a demolition derby,. and only if necessary, participation of the H-Ps as outlined. I set up for up to 8, got three players.
5. I finally got around to making up cheat sheets, to remind new players of some of the movement rules. I do tend to use altitude rules, so that I can teach most of the range of the game.
And just as an little extra incentive, everyone who participated got:
And the eventual winner would receive:
