obviously its going to take a bit of work to make it wgs compatible. i figure ill just make a more appropriately shaped flight deck out of something and affix it over the existing one.

my question is, as it seems a bit big for a jeep carrier, what other us carrier is small enough that it would work for?

Looks close to the one's Clipper built, based on the planes on the deck.
Measure the length, multiply by 200, and that will tell you it's scale length. Check some carriers on wiki.
From a really rough measure on the screen, I get 422'. That looks like an escort carrier to me.

As a stand alone game piece that should do the job nicely Phillip.

Great find and fun! Definately a post WWII as the angled deck was a very late design, but still very cool . . . looking at my collection of die cast early jets . . . . hmmmm . . . (Final Countdown music plays through the rafters . . . .) . . .

the deck is about 31" in length so i came up with 516'. so far the only carrier ive come across close is a us training cv uss sable at 518'

It really does not matter the scale length at this point it is all about impression. Make a control tower from foam core and rig it like any of the big carriers. It is quite a bit of fun to launch your planes from the height, you will need tall flight stands and lots of room to maneuver. Here's a few shots of the "Furious" in action in WWI, notice the Camels take off on the base +1 peg and switch to several for altitude above the water . . . lots of fun for sure!

since it doesnt really resemble any of the active cves, ie the flight deck is longer than the hull overall and it would take A LOT of work to convert it to look like them. i think ill just put a straight flight deck on it and dub it the "uss generic cve" lol.

I just got the updated version of Carriers at War the other day. I was disappointed to find it does not come with the Final Countdown scenario the old '90s version had.
It was always fun to play a guaranteed victory over the Shokaku, Zuikaku, Hiryu, Soryu, Kaga and Akagi instead of watching waves of Devastators die without accomplishing squat.

    The shorter wing-spacing is so they'll fit below-deck. >;)

Looks impressive with all those planes sitting on its flat-top, PM! Good to see you've finished the beast - and the control tower works nicely, too

    All the best,

Well done! If nothing else, you can put it on a table to draw eyes. An aircraft carrier worked really well at some of my conventions, if only to draw interest, and plant seeds for Wings of Glory.
