Default New prodcut idea: Friedrichshafen G.III/Caproni triplane release

One idea for something that could be made (after the balloon busters reprint) is a release of a pair of "medium sized bombers;" a Caproni triplane for the Entente, and a Friedrichshafen G.III for the Central Powers. Likely something sized between flight of the giants and the Gotha/Caproni Ca.3. Both of them were in the old Nexus Flight of the Giants (card version) box, and both would be interesting planes. (And there would be one for each side; a Felixstowe F.2A and and H.16 release wouldn't have a matching Central Powers aircraft.)

    Thoughts?

Discussion about release of bombers, and the FotG machines in particular, is not a new idea but is still an interesting topic.
In 2012 there was a poll on the most wanted - Staaken & HP O/400 were favourites and that's what we (eventually) got in the KS. The Felixstowe & Friedrichshafen were the next most popular at that time.
The Friedrichshafen suffers from being too similar to the Gotha perhaps but the Felixstowe seems very popular. The Ca4 may be more popular now that the AH front is being more catered for. I'd still like to see the AEG IV.

Both are awesome aircraft, so essential that they were the first ones I had the elves make years ago! Flying three Ca4's in a formation is very grueling, but fun!

Humm, I ignored the Felixstowe because it's a flying boat and as such wouldn't "balance" just about any Central Powers aircraft. The Caproni triplane certainly looks good, but it does have a colossal 'out of arc' area covering much of its rear field of fire, while the Felixstowe has a lot of guns. The old poll linked to 'did' point out that well designed tooling would enable an
H.16 and a Felixstowe to be made with mostly common parts; one of each instead of two different paint schemes?

This is the problem with "themed" releases: Not every acft. from one side has a counterpart on the other....

The Felixstowe F.2A's fought against German seaplanes, mainly Hansa-Brandenbergs.

The Felixstowe may not balance with any current Central Powers aircraft (Sachsenberg's D.VII maybe?) but could be a gateway to other smaller releases - it would certainly fit in with other unofficial brands - and it may be a prickly monster but that just makes it a challenge !

Humm, perhaps the Felixstowe would work better if a similarly timed normal series release happened to include a Central Powers seaplane? We have gotten an Italian one in a regular release, after all.
