Thread: Doncaster Con - Class of 2017

Default Doncaster Con - Class of 2017

Here's most of the attendees from Doncaster, save a few who didn't attend on the Sunday, and Maverick who was playing at David Bailey. Good to see so many from abroad show up. Now, you will have to excuse me as I need to Photoshop the photo of the lease-lend nominees (We nearly had a full set!).

And it was jolly nice that David (Patient Zero) Manley was able to make the Ace of Aces event on the Sunday. Here's the gang arriving to welcome him:

Great to see everyone! THIS explains your unusual costume in the Ace of Aces tourney, Simon - comPLETEly understandable, now that I see the reasoning behind it.

Well I just survived that epic battle in the skies. Ably assisted by Maverick towards the end as my vocal chords gave way. 28 Players dealing death and destruction, wheeling and shooting their way to be this years Ace of Aces.

    Default Saturday dawns....

..With the usual wait for museum staff to unlock the rooms

Only one shot of Tim's WW1 games as I had to hop into my Spitfire and protect England against the hun

Strangely Brown's (Simon) impressive Battle of Britain setup

Red section goes for the bombers, blithely ignoring the swarms of 109s and 110s around

The Spits finally wake up to the threat

One of the Heinkels has a touch of engine trouble

    Two down, two to go

And another one bites the dust. Victory to the RAF.

Later on, Maverick/Ensign Patch (Simon) put on his Pirates game.

    The Royal Navy

The pirates. They just had to get off the other side of the table, aka Tortuga. How hard can that be?

Well, there was a two-ship pile up in move one, and a three-ship pile up a couple of moves later. And then this turns up

The pirates eventually managed to sneak through to Tortuga, but the British Admiral did not have a good day

Nice pictures! It was a delightful adventure indeed, during which I also got to put a lot of faces on Drome personalities!

Games were a lot fun but the comradery and unhurried atmosphere experienced in this fully packed programme take the bow.

Well worth the weekend break and I do hope to be back next year!

PS - I will upload my own pictures/AAR-medley-sort-of shortly.
