Hehehe there is a clue to one of my rides in Part 3 of the blog I just posted, but the detail will have to wait for Part 4.

PS the vehicles in the photo weren't even half those available to ride

Beautiful pictures, Carl! This is definitely a world-class museum The WW2 section has some real treasures - great to see the Matilda and Valentine, and the Tiger turret top is a cool point of display...

    Looking forward to Round 4.

    All the best,
    Matt

On many of their vehicles the hatches are open so you can view the crew compartments, which for the most part are in pristine condition.

As an example these photos are of the interior of the M3 Grant tank .....

Well, as long as you don't go shaking sticks at them, you should be OK.

Mine also has their hatch open on the Grant. When you look inside you wonder how they did what they did in such cramped spaces. Here is Stuart side view and inside shot.

I hope you have enjoyed these pictorial tours. For any Australian (or international) members with an interest in military history this museum is an absolute must-see venue. I have already organised a return trip next year with a large group from Brisbane. Given the AAAM is expanding it's collection next year to include a Sherman Firefly, a Cromwell, two models of Panzer IV and a Panther Ausf A as well as adding an entire new 3200 square metre wing I think there will be plenty more to see!

Just one of many purchases made at the well-stocked museum shop.

Great pictures of 'Riding in Tanks' - it looks like you and Ash had a marvelous time. Those tanks slated for inclusion for the expansion will be wonderful.

Thanks again for setting up the blog and sharing all of these photos.

    All the best,
    Matt

There is a place in Nokesville VA that has a show. The pictures I have posted are from there. They run some around a track and it is good to see them run. They also have a Marine demo team that shows how a squad would attack a bunker. The flame thrower is actually from WWII, but getting old.
