Thread: Judys on sale at MM

  1. #1

Default Judys on sale at MM

I have not been very keen on Judys up till now, but MM has them on sale in big quantities so there was no chance to resist their offer taking into account the 5$ shipping cost to door in UE. Impressive. 3 minis plus shipping for less than 28$? A pure bargain...
Now, along with Litko's torpedoes and splash markers, torpedo easy houserules inspired by those of Neil are to be invented for my Flight...

If nothing else, the decks might be used for other planes.
Another thing to investigate this winter

I have to check them out. I didn't check their site today so thanks for the info. They always have a sale on the planes that don't sell so fast. You can still get D520's on sale. I picked up a few of the Russian hurricane's when they were on sale and did a repaint of them.

With some minor work, could easily serve as an Army A-24.

You want to keep torpedoes well away from your 'Judys' - 'Judys' are Dive Bombers!

For late war IJN Torpedo planes, you need 'Jills' to replace the early 'Kates'.

Shame on me, you are absolutely right, Tim! I am sure I will need to use these birdies of mine along with Litko's torpedo and splash markers.

Checked my OSPRY book and the A-24 was the Army version of the SBD and it was called the BANSHEE. They would also be good for repaints.

[nod] After Germany invaded Poland, all that footage of the Ju-87s convinced the US Army it needed dive bombers for close air support; after the Battle of Britain, the Army decided "OK, maybe dive bombers are too slow...."

it was probably a training issue, but the Army A-24s were considered fighter-bait in New Guinea, while the Navy ones held there own.

Probably -- Stan "Swede" Vejtesa managed a transfer from dive-bombers to fighters after scoring three Zero kills at Coral Sea in a SBD: http://www.aviation-history.com/airmen/coralsea.htm .

Yes Karl. The story talks about how they were jumped by some Zeros and 8 were shot down. After that not used in the dive bombing mission.
