Thread: Dogfight in the Pacific

  1. #1

    Default Dogfight in the Pacific

In the aftermath of the Guadalcanal scenario, we made a dogfigth between our brave pilots veterans of the imperial navy to the fine flower of the US pilots of 1945.
2 Corsairs and 1 Hellcat against our 3 Zeros.
Well ........ We can not be and have been..To be or not to be and so on.
In short the performances of the corsairs and Hellcat have nothing to do with their predecessors. It is better to move away from the devastating shootings of the Hellcat and the legendary fragility of the zeros does not help the case.
    Balance sheet US 3 / Japan 1
A zero explodes in full flight at the very first shot of a corsair.
The hellcat fights against a poor samurai pilot and sends him to the bottom of the water. But, his engine burning, he exploded soon after.
The two corsairs threw themselves on the surviving Japanese and killed him.

The Hellcat, just before exploding, has time to admire its trophy in the waters of the Pacific.

There's a long time I'm waiting for them, too long in fact. All my Pacific minis are 1/144.

Very nice pics and interesting "Quick One".
Really like the "look ma, no hands" stands - makes it seem like you are really there.

I like this "augmented reality" approach to an AAR! Very cool, though I'm sure it makes for a good deal more effort in "post production" (pun intended)

My son and I are painting up a four plane section of F4U-1d Corsairs and are looking forward to getting them on the table soon! Thanks for the extra inspiration

Great air battle and the photos really bring it to life. Are you using a custom deck for the Corsairs?

Excellent work and a very good AAR.
What did you use to give you the water look?
And I also seemed to have missed this one when originally posted.

    Thank's guys,
Steve:hope to see your corsair's soon.
    Barry: thank's for the rep
    Scott:For the corsair I'm using a D deck ( I don't have any WOG deck)
Dale: the "water look" it's just a paper poster of the sea.
I'm taking time to "erase" the stands , not every time but when it worth the work like this WWI battle for our campaign. I'had just paint the mat for it .

Just saw this and have to say as the others great photos. The Zero in the water is really good.
