Last Tuesday night it was our WWII night so the 3 of us thought we would try something different. 3 mats, Coastal defended by 2 Spits from 11 Group, Country defended by a single P47 (sorry no Hurricanes) from 12 Group, and the City mat defended by a single Gladiator from 3 Group. Defenders could fire over mat borders but could not leave their own mat without going out of the game. Lacking Heinkels the attackers were represented by a Stuka and a 110. The mission objective was to bomb the city of Newcastle and then return to base in France hence passing over 3 RAF fighter Groups. No flak was to be used.
Approaching the Coast
One Spit latches onto the rear of the Stuka but the other makes the mistake of getting in front of the BF-110 guns!
He soon pays the penalty!
Meanwhile the other Spit proves how vulnerable the Stuka is....
The 110 presses on into 12 Group zone and the P47 is closing fast.
The P47 starts hitting the 110 hard!
Too hard! The 110 is downed without even approaching the target and the Gladiator did not have to make an appearance either.
A resounding victory to the Allies at the cost of 1 Spitfire downed. Game over in less than half and hour .... too easy. This needs to be harder so see the second AAR.
