Default Battle of France & Battle of Britain Hurricane squadrons

I've designed the 1/200 scale decals for 145 Squadron. I expect to test them this week on Armaments in Miniature models.

Are there nominations for two other Battle of Britain or Battle of France Hurricane squadrons?

Feel free to include specific aircraft IDs from the squadrons.

I can't promise to create decals for all nominations but it'll sure help me narrow my focus.

    Thanks, Kevin

For the Battle of France it would be a fairly easy task as both 1 and 73 Squadron RAF of the AASF used single letter fuselage codes. They also had full length rudder flashes after the French pattern. Examples:

Test run of the 145 sqn decals shows that they need a little more work.

Default No. 145 Squadron Hurricanes 1/200 scale decals

These decals are now available. They're designed to fit the 1/200 scale Armaments in Miniature model (AIM's SKU is R9-0303). I'll be adding them to the webstore during the next update [added to the webstore 1/13/17 http://shop.miscmini.com/t/decals-1/200--9mm ]. If you'd like to purchase them outside the webstore just send me a PM and we can work things out.

Sets -145A, -145B, and -145C are complete sets that include roundels, aircraft/squadron codes, and the tail flash. They include some spare decals just in case. They retail for $5 a sheet.

Set -145D contains only the squadron/aircraft codes. The code letters are 0.14" (~3.5mm) tall. -92D retails for $3.50.

Postage is $2.50 on orders under $40. I pay postage on orders over $40. I accept credit cards, PayPal, money orders (US) and personal checks (US).

So, if these fit the old Nexus Hurricanes, I could see getting sets for the new Ares Squadron pack planes, and doing up them. Of course, I'd need "YO" for No. 1 Squadron RCAF. For $5, it would be cheaper than wasting ink and decal sheet material at my end.

Default No. 1 Squadron RCAF Hurricanes 1/200 scale

These decals are designed to fit the Armaments in Miniature 1/200 scale Hurricane. There are four sheets in the series although only two are shown below.

Sheets -1A, -1B, and -1C each contain roundels, tail flashes, and aircraft codes for four aircraft. The sheets have lettering for different aircraft within No 1 Squadron RCAF. These sheets are $5 each.

Sheet -1D contains only aircraft and squadron codes. There are markings for 12 aircraft on this sheet. It retails for $3.50.

I expect to update the webstore with these decals before 1/15/17 [added to the webstore 1/13/17 http://shop.miscmini.com/t/decals-1/200--9mm ]. If you want to order before then, just send me a PM

M9-0303-1A, -1B, and -1C are complete sets. B and C have decals for different aircraft in 1 Sqdn RCAF.

    Just confusing the issue, Kevin...

I went with the third down on the left, and the fourth on the right, without the tail flash (see additional reference below).
    5a57a219caf5549e92ce3faf5e751fcf.jpg

Scales, but without the squadron code and plane letters:
    hurric_marking.jpg

144th scale decals from CanMilAir, but they either got it wrong, there was an interim paint job that had the roundels on the lower wings, or the picture was mis-dated:
    image_060.jpg

And my decals, with neither the roundel, nor the letters in the right sizes for the model:
    RCAF 1Sqn Markings(1).png

And I used the yellow bordered roundels for the top wings, as I had this reference that showed this version. I have gone back to the Type B (two colour), as more common, but without the tail flash, still:
    RCAF 1Sqn Markings.jpg

In the end, I'd go with the CanMilAir size letters in relation to the roundel, and that should work. The Serial No. is not required, unless you want to be really thorough, and data for that might be a bit tough.

PS: The best I can do for pilots and markings of Hurricanes is this:

    YO – A S/L Ernest A. “Earnie” McNabb P3069
    YO – C F/O RWG Norris P3080
    YO – G F/O Hartland de Montarville Molson P3757
    YO – H F/L Gordon R. McGregor P3873
    YO – L F/O T.B. Little R4171 or V6697 or V6867

The squadron record really didn't record the letter of the plane that pilots flew, only the serial number. So, if you don't have a photo with the plane, and the serial number, with the pilot, you don't know who was flying the thing. And, on any given day, any pilot might fly any plane, too.
