Actually it was being relieved of my first post before I took it up which was to be a rear gunner on a milk float flying the Glasgow run. Instead I got a lovely job doing the mail run in South East Northumberland.
See you on the Dark Side......

Late war rookies - no experiences with WoG - maybe I'll can teach them the basics in the Zirndorf Flight Summer Con training March/April.

These are some questions for those seasoned UK visitors to previous Prague meetings.
What do I do about currency? Is it best to get Czech currency before I go or can I just take sterling and change it up as needed? Also what sort of charge should I expect to pay for a Taxi from the Airport to the Mars Hotel?
Your advise will be gratefully received.

Reg, I am sure the Czech colleagues will gladly answer your questiones about the exchange rates and taxi costs. In most of the places you can easily pay by card like in every UE country. What I can say is you will see that the prices in Czech Republic are significantly lower than in UK as far as food and drinks are concerned.

Best to book a shuttle taxi online before you go rather than rely on the cab drivers at the airport, who in some cases are a bit 'iffy'. Look at around 20-25 squids each way, less if you share. I changed my money before I went last year, but that was when the quid was worth something........

I have booked my taxi via this site. Excellent service to and from the Airport to Mars (Hotel not planet) Used them last year including a 05.30 call to the airport for the home trip.

cost 22€ each way in a Merc just for me all alone!!!

As for cash just use your card to get some if you need it or just use your card to pay for food/hotel

OK, I think I missed something. Sorry for it.
The transportation from the airport is simply - you can use public transportation or taxi:

    Public Transportation
On the airport catch bus No. 119 (only one direction, the airport [stops Terminal 1 & 2] is terminal) and go to Nádraží Veleslavín metro station (it is one of stations that I designed in my previous job). Here catch metro to Strašnická station (same line) and there tram No. 7 to Kubánské náměstí. Mars is there.
If you want to use public transportation regularly, think about 1 or 3 days ticket (easy rule: 3 tickets are cheaper than 1 whole day, but 4 aren't). More informations on www.dpp.cz/en.

    Taxi
Better to call or preorder them or use Uber. When you are once in system from your call, the chance for too high price is low.

    Curency
Hard to say. GBP shoukd be around 31 CZK (funny we are paying by crowns in our republic) and there was a long article abour unfair rules in exchanges on the streets. So, consider changing in UK or visit Czech bank (no problem in Prague). There is also common to pay by (even contactless) credit cards or use ATMs. Just note note: Láďa doesn't allows paying by credit cards, but there is an ATM near.

Question on the repaint contest - are we restricted to Wings aircraft, or are Shapeways/AIM/HBM offerings OK too?

Are we restricted to one entry each?

I see "Bloody April" on the mission list, now.

I could imagine a "big" mission & and asked the famous Nightbomber for support.

There's still an Austrian/Italion balloon busting scenario in production.

Let's wait for the upgrade of the mission, I know our Czech comrades are working behind the curtain.

    Girls and Guys,

as I wrote before, Serbian Wing, 4 pilots strong, is coming.
But, due to some organizational issues, we are forced to leave on Sunday morning, so we will be present only on Friday and Saturday (both briefings included).

  28. #128

    Default

So we will have to prolonge the briefings Nemanja, to enjoy your stay to the full.

I'm happy that we can play at the Warboss for Saturday, too. (especially for the fresh cooled beer!)

    I only got three remarks:

    a) The Nightbomber & me still need to work out the "Bloody April"

    c) Who's Maverick?

    c) The name of my Sunday SoG Scenario is "Abukir"

I think we don't have reservations unlike the campaign players last year.

Observations of the last Cons showed that the youngsters tend to the more easy WGF system.

Myself will jump in where players are needed, when not hosting a game.

Zirndorf Flight will get a training in WGF & WGS next month, so I think they're flexible enough.
    Voilà le soleil d'Austerlitz!

Dear Paul, my apologizes to you - I totally forgot your PM. Sorry for it

To reservations: there will be just a spreadsheet on the venue where you can fill your name by a pencil. It is mostly because not every player check the Aerodrome daily and sometimes there were overcrowded missions (mostly campaign ones). This year campaign is free to enter, no ace skills and there is only a symbolic frame of Czechoslovak pilots. We want to collect experience and may be next year there could be a WGS campaign (or there will be Con in France to tribute MvR).

So, feel free to fill your name somewhere during Friday

If it is the same as last year the Friday venue is 50mts down the road at the games shop. that kills 2 birds with 1 stone at least.

It would be nice if GMs would post short descriptions (if not even full rules) for their scenarios, before the Con. It would help decide which scenarios to take part in. Now it looks like a candy shop :-)

It would, Nemanja, it would. But itnis almost impossible to get descriptions from them. If you want you can try to motivate them, but I am not able to garantee more then mine.

and if players could say if they wanted to play I could ask for the planes I need for the scenario from Dan and his Czech teammates.

I will post a little taster for my WGS game later this week.

    Nemanja,

Abukir at Sunday is a coop SoG Mission for 6 Players. You can find an AAR link in the Posts above.

Southern Front on Saturday is a vice versa balloon busting WGF mission with altitude rules.
A/H & Italina planes fight each other and try to bring down enemy balloons, guarded by machine guns.
There will be aces in play, new Phoenix fighters and some custom painted planes.
3 respawns per side and maybe "simple" altitude rules.
Each side has to decide how much planes left for guard service, dogfight & balloon attack.

Bloody April WGF is under contruction, but I guess it will be something where a strong A-firing Albatros D.III force will fight inferior Entente planes. There you can proof again your flying abilities.

OK, so my strafing mission (Saturday morning): Flight of AIRCOs and Nieuports 11 attacks trenches with AAMGs, defended by a small number of Halberstadts. Simple altitudes, no resurrection, escaping the combat by leaving the map may pay off.
