Looking good for the Pacific Rich.
Did the American aircraft figure anywhere in North Africa?
Rob.

I can find no reference to them being used in North Africa. They did not go operational until 11 November 1943 in a strike against Rabaul.

Thanks Rich. I will bear that one in mind.

Hmmm . . . I will be doing some shopping for sure, want (need!) the Helldiver set for sure!
Good to see they are still coming out with new stuff. I have 1 B7A and 3 Helldivers. Checked my Osprey book and the first Helldivers were delivered in Dec 1942 to Scouting 9 (VS9). Bombing 9 (VB9) was on the Lexington so that may be the carrier they were assigned to.
Looked at my Osprey book again and saw that SB2C's from the Yorktown (CV3) and Princeton (CVL23) carried out a raid on Rabaul as Rich stated.
One other detail: Due to the infamously poor performance of the SB2C design, the US Army models were almost-entirely diverted to other users (of 900 built, some 410 went to the Marines, another 270 back to the USN, and 10 to the Aussies) -- and not one of them saw combat; so at least one of those models is going to be "hypothetical use only".
Nice looking planes.
Too bad they are 1/144
I thought it was only the Marine Corps variant that didnt see combat. That said you could repaint them as French for Indo-China.
See you on the Dark Side......
Any French repaints let me know I may have a few decals for French planes.
My box arrived yesterday.
