I have clearance from my Social Coordinator (AKA: SWMBO) to run this on Sunday, if that works better for those interested.

I have word that Andrea is not available for the game this weekend.

Shame. Just a quicky what are the Martians def points , and what do they hit us with in terms of damage decks.

    Next time...

Hmmm.... Yes. I will have to draw all the damage on this, as I have the damage decks. The Martians use custom X, Y and Z decks. Depending on the number of players, we can use any of the four prototypes, from 12 to 22 damage. Or a mix of tripods.

It would be interesting to see what happens, if we match up the damage rating per side? One scenario calls for three planes (D.VIIs and/or Snipes) versus a two tripods. No rockets or cannons, but Ace skills to each vehicle. By damage rating, this would probably be 48 damage for the planes, and choosing a Mk I (medium with 18) and a Mk IV (light with 12) a total of 30 damage. Also, choosing the two specific tripods, no Heavy Heat-rays (X damage deck).

If we move to Sunday, it would be the same time (6:00 PM CET), gentlemen. It looks like it is just the three of us, if no-one else jumps in.

That gives me a day extra to clean out the garage, too.

As the schedule shows above, Andy. It is now changed to read Sunday, November 6.

Darell, also sorry you can't make it. But you can post an invite of your own and see if others can attend? Or PM me to set up a game that I can host for you.

There is a time change this weekend!

I have adjusted the timing, but as I am the only one from North America, I moved my time. So, unless my International Meeting Planner is messed up, the game should be at the same time for everyone in Europe.

Please check the original post for the timings.

    Andy,
Technically, no. You are going to have to discover the rules, and the maneuver decks, as we play.

You will have to trust I'm not cheating. Well, cheating will invalidate any play testing results, so that won't happen.

Would it really help to have the rules?

I will be controlling the Tripods, and the Skype guests will be flying D.VIIs or Snipes. Each Earthling pilot will have an Ace Skill.

The Earthling object is to survive, while taking down the tripods. The Martian objective is to take out the planes, or to get to the Earthling side of the map.

    See you tomorrow morning!

Why does this sound like a set up? What if Mike has sold out to the Martians? What if this is real, not a game? Why does his recent graduate degree come from "Barsoom"? Don't worry, the martians are fairly squishy, you just need to be mindful of their armaments at all times

Is this an episode from Stargate? Where they play a game but it's a real game? Or am I just dreaming...........?

I am going to try out the MATES maneuver cards today. I think this will be the perfect time for them. You guys tell me the maneuver, and I just use ONE card to get you where you want to go. No shuffling through a deck, no scrambling up two or three different decks, no clean-up resorting. Awesome.

    Well, technical issues conspired...

Skype on Linux is an issue, but Google Hangouts might be the work-around. With Real Life issues also conspiring, Andy and Paul were introduced to some of the rules of the game, but no playing was enjoyed.

If Paul posts up his availability, I will set a new schedule up for another try.

I think Neil was visited by maybe, martians? A distraction effort to thin the ranks? Then a "technical" wrinkle? My tech guy says "Linux is from Mars, Windows is from Venus" what ever that means! I am beginning to see a Solar System alignment upon us, just how close is Mars to us these days????? Okay, I will go back to watching the Aliens marathon on tv whilst I paint my Barracudas . . . .

Although it must have been the Martians' intervention that we could not get a group connection I was truly impressed by Mike's involvement, the components and the rules (black smoke!) he showed me. I swear to join the game next time if Mike is so kind to arrange things another time.

    Gentlemen,
Any chance of doing a Systems Check for a new Group Video process? I would like to try "Appear. In" (Link: appear.in/)

This says it just requires a browser, not system, nor platform, dependent. If we could set a time, and try out the connection, it would take a few minutes to determine if it works. Then, we could set up a time for a game, with some confidence the technology won't be the issue.

    Please advise.

    PS: Clarification:
    No installation required

You only need one of the supported browsers listed [...].

appear.in is built with a new web standard called WebRTC.
For you this means no plugins or installation.
Currently WebRTC is only supported in the browsers listed on desktop and devices with newer version of Android.

Google Chrome / Mozilla Firefox / Opera
