    Default Doncaster 2016 Report.

UKWing’s 3rd annual meeting held at South Yorks Air Museum, Doncaster.

We were a little spoilt this year as we had access to a room empty of exhibits but awaiting refurbishment; that said it was a lovely open area with plenty of space to move around and for larger tables and storage.

Friday night was bar night at the Grand St Ledger however due to late evening meals we didn’t get to play any games but the liquid refreshment went down well and great conversation rounded off our first evening.

No plan survives first contact with the enemy, in this case the chef at the St Ledger. Late breakfasts scuppered our early planned start and games eventually kicked off 45 minutes late. 29 members duly arrived and the games commenced in earnest.

    Quick results:

    WW1: RFC 0 - Germans Lots!
    WW2: RAF/USA 1+ a destroyer - Germans/Japanese Lots!
Sails: Royal Navy Lots - French not so many.

By 6.15pm all but the final Sails game had been completed and the mammoth task of clearing everything away and setting up the Ace of Aces game for Sunday morning started. By 7.15pm all was ready and it was off to pick up the wives and head for the evening meal.

It was the same venue as last year and we were treated like royalty. The food and service was excellent. Chris (Hedeby) received a well deserved award, the Flying Bristol’s. (Pictures must be observed to get the full impact of this statement....need I say more).

Sunday start was 10am sharp. (Even Andrzej made it but it was close!). Random placement, this years Ace of Aces was an all in bash. No sides just knock down as many aircraft as you could in the 2 hours allowed. Boom cards were flying faster than Chris’s Bristols and in the end we had a winner.

Thank you for this nice overview, Neil.

Looking at the stats I think we have to form up a Bulldog Squadron to polish up the RFC result and throw in the Frenach admiral's hat to balance this a little bit more, next year.

Congratulations to all winners, especially to my friend Andrzej, who proofed to be a real jetfighter ace.
    Voilą le soleil d'Austerlitz!

    Great report Neil. Rep incoming.

Surprised to find Andy owned a pair of strides other than his ubiquitous shorts

Three questions: who made the harbour, where does he live and when won't he be home? That is extremely impressive to say the least.
