From the original article (link in Post #1), you can find this image:
The original article suggested that the height of the "stand-in" tripod is about what will end up being the boxed-set, finished tripods.
PS: My estimate would be about 8-ish pegs high?

Gaak! These model knives are hard to hold sometimes! Thinking I might do better with my 3-D pen on this project. Anyone else tempted to create an alien or three?
I just bought some Scout Tripods models from "All Quiet on the Martian Front'. I haven't put them together yet but they look like they should be ~6" tall.
The elves are getting desperate, just found they used the shop credit card to buy the last one of these on ebay . . .

Don't know if I should scold them or praise them! We will see when it comes in the mail . . .
All credit to the elves - oh, yes, that's what happened, isn't it?

I just watched the video exploration of the kit - it looks really nifty, if a bit fiddly - with perhaps a couple of options for the configuration of the tripod. I will look forward to your progress on this when you get them, Dave!
All the best,
Matt
ooooo I can't wait to see what the finished project looks like
Oooooh!!! Ahhhhhhh!!! Oooooaaaaah!!!
*suddenly I'm hearing the soundtrack album playing loudly in my head*
They. Look. AWESOME!!! Does this mean they're coming out relatively soon???
(Oh, and we do verily want Thunder Child rules, if at all possible, please!!!)
Those look great, Andrea, and they will be even better when painted.
On those, I can see where 0.30-cals might be able to inflict damage -- there appears to be lots of room for criticals....
These look R E A L L Y cool, Andrea!
Any chance we could demo a game at Origins this year?!
All the best,
Matt
They look a bit too scary for the elves and me, I think we will stick to the retro style Martians . . . : )
Well yours are from the 1903 invasion. In our timeine, these arrives in 1917 instead. So they are a bit more modern.
I hope you will bring them next year, Andrea. It would be nice to play Invasion from Mars in Hotel Mars
Hi Chaps
This all sounds promising any release dates for the game and details on the rules would be most welcome!
Kev
Very nice looking models. Different from the AQMF one so each could compliment each other.

Hi Mike
Thanks for the update it is good to know it is all happening, just cannot wait to give this a go having had the tripods made for a long time.
Do the rules include ground troops as well as the aircraft after all the tripods need something to burn up and dominate???
Regards Kev
Might see a preview/playtest at Origins, but no word on that yet.

It is too quiet here on the Martian front . . . any sightings? . . . any news?
My shared drive has been getting updates from the design team, so this is still in development/refinement mode.
Patience?

I go to the Bar! and wait for their first move

Any news it would be good to see this available soon.

Happened to be at Barnes and Noble yesterday picking up a couple of books and ran across this in the new releases section - the 'official' sequel to Wells's original. Looks like it might be fun to pick up and read...evidently set 15 or so years in the future of the original book, with that version having been a recon, while the new version is the full-blown invasion...
All the best,
Matt
WOW!!
What a great find one to watch out for could be good for the game?
Regards Kev
Arch enemies always find a way to come back for another attempt.
So, back from M-Con 2017, where I attempted to demo the new game. It was sort-of played, but as there was no advertising, nor anything on the con schedule, it was nearly a bust.
Link: M-Con 2017 - Wings of Glory Appearance
However, I also have permission to present this game at BottosCon 2017, in November. I am already announcing its appearance there, and the person who ran a home-grown version of this mash-up last year at BottosCon is already signed up to play.
Link: BottosCon 2017 - Wings of Glory, Tripods & Triplanes
Just for anyone's curriosity, I have been told that Ares Games will be making an official announcement concerning a Kickstarter for Tripods & Triplanes in November. My conjecture is that there may be a starter set with one Tripod and a Nieuport 16 (with rockets) as the base of the game (including all the damage decks for all players, and all the rulers and markers). This will probably be released in conjuntion with tripod packs for the basic tripod and any other version (possibly up to four different types of tripods, as postd by Andrea above). For planes, any Wings of Glory WWI airplane pack would be usable.
Note: The damage decks for Wings of Glory will not necessarily work for Tripods & Triplanes, as there is special Tripod damage that will not be on any Wings of Glory decks. I can't see any way to get around this, so the Starter Set will most likely have four 'new' A-D damage decks. These might be usable with Wings of Glory, though, one would have to ignore the Tripod special damage, if it comes up. There will be standard plane special damage, I just haven't bothered comparing the two different editions. At least, not yet. There have been refinements in damage distribution since conception, so things might change.
I may have to make up a few extra copies of the light version of the Tripods, if there are lots of players at BottosCon. Good thing I got extra plastic and decal sheets.
