Additionally,
The armament on each ship would be used as follows:
20mm
AA = standard machine gun emplacement rules from the
WOG rulebook using C damage chips at 2 ruler distance for each barrel (instead of A chip).
40mm
AA = standard machine gun emplacement rules from the
WOG rulebook using D damage chips at 2 ruler distance for each barrel (instead of A chip).
or Standard
AA canon rules (you would want to commit to one use or the other [machine gun vs. Flack] to simulate having a certain round type loaded at the time of the attack).
I.e. Close in attacks would warrant the use of 40mm as machine guns and higher altitude dive bombing type attack would be loaded with Flack/anti aircraft cannon rounds).
My brother Joe came up with the following regarding 1/200 ship damage:
Take the bomb weight and remove a zero... I.e. 500 LB bomb would cause 50 points of damage.
It takes 200 points to destroy an 11 inch (single page) section of any ship.
It takes greater than half of the 11inch sections to sink a ship. I.e. a Fletcher class would go down if hit by 200 points because it only has one 11 inch section but an Escort carrier would require 2 sections to be hit (200 points or more) to sink.
It the aircraft dropped ordnance were to strike any of the destroyer torpedo banks, you would count/include the damage resulting from each torpedo stored within the bank (this would be bad for that ship).
If any one else has any ideas, please share...
