This is one of those mixed builds, some AIM, some Shapeways, some Ares! Took a while to gather the cast . . .
My main source book, excellent drawings, color photos, plates and info:
The finished hoard . . .
The idea was to make the necessary fighters, cargo and support planes used by the Flying Tigers in China. After doing some reading and research, I knew the supply link was likely C-46's and C-47's. Fighters were 3 wings of the "Tigers" with a few early P-51's and now and then a B-17 for a bombing run.
First Pursuit Squadron, white fuselage band (all awaiting individual numbers)
Second Pursuit Squadron, blue fuselage band
Third Pursuit Squadron, red fuselage band
Early P-51 high altitude intercept group (semi fictional, found some notes and a rare pic, they too had the famous shark mouths . . . so I want to believe)
The monster Curtiss C-46, it is huge, check it out next the B-17!
Work horse Douglas C-47, ubiquitous . . .
Early B-17 C for those rare bombing raids . . .
A happy family! Looking for a convention . . .
Few details: Shark mouths of all kinds!
Size compare, rather surprising . . .
Fun!!!
Good to be back to work, thanks for all your support during my latest medical fun! Cheers! Dave and the Elves! Now to build the "Flying Tiger Kit" box . . .
