"Courage is the art of being the only one who knows you're scared to death."
This beer remembers Sir Arthur (Bomber) Harris, Marshal of the Royal Air Force.

Another beer from British Bulldog Brewery is 'Dambuster'. It is ABV 6.5% IBU: 29.8. Here is the picture from the label.
The brewery writes," Dam Buster celebrates Operation Chastise, an attack using bouncing bombs on German Dams and hydroelectric power stations which were either damaged or destroyed causing catastrophic flooding of the Ruhr Valley and villages in the Eder Valley temporarily interrupting the Nazi War machine.
This English old ale is a classic in that style. Six types of fermentable base malts and sugars are supported by all English hops and yeast."
Contrail: ABV 3.6% IBU: 35
The brewery wrote," We are all used to looking up into the sky and seeing contrails. They are formed by the condensation of aircraft engine exhaust into ice crystals in the upper atmosphere. Today we see straight lines showing the path of jets from one city to another. During the war, the turbocharged and supercharged engines of fighter aircraft created a crazy jumble of spirals and whirls like most of us have never experienced.
This English pub style session ale was created to honor those pilots that tumbled through the upper atmosphere in defense of their country and the democratic way of life. This ale is as rare treat, like the oxygen in the upper atmosphere. Yet the hop flavor has been crafted to provide a crazy, long lasting finish, just like the contrails seen over Britain and France in World War Two."
The brewery wrote," A feature of the European Theatre of the Second World War was the need for total darkness (called the "blackout") at night. This ensured that enemy bombers could not easily see their targets on night raids and also to identify planes easier using the strong search lights and help gunners target them with ground to air anti-aircraft flak. This all British malt and Kentish hops infused dry stout is a very drinkable dark ale, and because it is as black as midnight it would get the full approval of Air Warden Police.
“Turn that light out!!!” Enjoy!"
I never heard of a stout being referred to as "dry"; a quick trip to wiki tells me that what used to be plain old stout, is now a dry stout to differentiate it from milk and oatmeal stouts.
Maybe it's an English thing?

I do not know about the origins of different types of stout, Karl, but Blackout is brewed in California. They also brew Iron Curtain - Russian Imperial Stout: ABV 8.1% (12.5% Special Brew) IBU: 50.
About this the brewery wrote," The Russian imperial stout was first brewed by a British brewery at the end of the 17th century for Tsar Peter the Great, obviously well before the communist revolution as the name implies. Iron Curtain comes in two versions, regular at 8.1% ABV and special at 12.5% ABV depending on your bravery.
The phrase Iron Curtain was coined by Winston Churchill shortly after the end of the Second World War when describing the entrenchment and political isolationism of communist Russia when he stated that “…an iron curtain has descended across the continent.”"
There is a Black Out stout brewed here in Cleveland, but it honors a different black out

Note: this is the barrel aged version; evidence of a recent unfortunate tread in craft brewing

The originator of the term 'Iron Curtain' is remembered in this drink, Winnie: ABV 5.9% IBU 30.8.
The brewery wrote," Sir Winston Churchill was the British Prime Minister and leader of the UK parliament through World War II. Through his determined character and charismatic speeches he was able to help the United Kingdom rally against the onslaught of the Nazis for the first five years of the war before successfully recruiting the United States to help end the war both in the European and Pacific theatres. He was affectionately represented as the iconic British Bulldog from which our brewery is named. This unusual and non-conforming ale was crafted to symbolize three of his most poignant characteristics: The cream stout was chosen to represent his smooth elegant speeches; smoked peat malt was used to remind us of his love of cigars; and brandy infused oak to represent his love of a fine cognac. Although not know for drinking beer, we hope he would have approved."
There is a small error in the above because it was only two years before the U.S.A. entered W.W.2.
One more beer from the British Bulldog Brewery remembering the Battle of Britain, as it is that time of year. It is rated ABV 3.8% IBU: 52.1.
The brewery wrote," The Battle of Britain lasted from 10 July 1940 through 31 October 1940, starting one month after the Dunkirk evacuation. The plan was for Nazi air superiority over Britain so an invasion would be possible to subjugate the British people. However, the Royal Air Force was able to repulse the Luftwaffe attacks, leading Churchill famously to proclaim that Never, in the course of human conflict have so many owed so much to so few. One important airfield during this time was Biggin Hill, in Kent, close to our UK home and so this Kentish Pub Ale celebrates the ales drunk by many of the pilots of the time, filled with an abundance of UK East Kent Golding hops.
Tasting Notes: This Kentish Pub Ale is brewed to the standards of the old Kent breweries. 100% UK ingredients, Maris Otter pale and crystal malts that give a nice toasty flavor combine with Northdown hops for bittering and tons of East Kent Golding hops for flavor and aroma."
You'd think they'd have saved the name for a red rye.

You have a much better memory than I do, Tim. Thank you.
A very apt one Karl. Certainly was an old War Horse.

So many interesting Beers & so little drinking time!
And here's a real "afterburner":
Keuka Afterburner Habanero Ale is 4.2 ABV and 22 IBU. Appearance is orange amber with little head and the nose lightly malty and a bit soapy. The flavor is light malt and hop with those habanero peppers coming through on the finish emanating from the back of the tongue and spreading down the throat and the rest of the mouth. The pepper isn’t vine fresh but nor is it artificial tasting.

Brewdog is a local for me; their USA brewery is in Columbus Ohio
