Aviator is an awesome brewery in North Carolina south of Raleigh and it is run by pilots. Besides the brew pub they have a full restaurant, small swag shop with a stand up bar, and smaller eatery across the street from the large one. But the brew pub is the best. Out in the middle of no where with an eclectic crowd and wait staff it is a great place to hang out, I do it every time I’m in the area. The brewery tour is awesome; you can refill your glass as much as you want during the tour! Since I already brew I use the time to sample the current selection.

Oh, I also seem to remember the owner’s dad owns a craft brewery in the Tampa FL area.

In Destin FL there is a Craft Brewery called Props owned by a bunch of former AF guys. Good beer but the bar is kind of tame for a bunch of ex fighter jocks.

Maybe they'd rather have good beer than a bar fight?

I should have said the decor is rather bland and vanilla for a bunch of ex fighter jocks?

Ah, well, then they feel money spent on making good beer is more important than fancy decor
We have a couple places here in NE Ohio that startups in the modern version of a Quonset Hut, with minimum decor, and really good beer

But the Quonset hut would be perfect theming! If those startups are anywhere around Sandusky please PM me the names. My wife has family around there and I’m sure we will be up there again; always looking for a good brewpub.

Modern version. Kind of light industrial steel buildings.
While this is down in Akron and Canton areas, I'm sure there's some good microbreweries around Sandusky. Prowl the net a bit, and I'm sure you'll find some.

Got to be careful with these; many "gluten-free" beers are just processed to remove as much gluten as possible. If your friends have a serious reaction or allergy to gluten, those might give it to them.
As to how they do it, using those GF substitutions like what they use in other GF products. I'm betting a lot of rice.

I think that is the idea behind this thread, Karl.

This company is named after a famous aircraft and uses one on its logo but rather strangely none of its beers have aviation linked names, as far as I can see.

Actually, Bullseye was the nickname of the Roe 1 Triplane depicted, which first flew in 1909.
The Roe I Triplane (often later referred to as the Avro Triplane) was an early aircraft designed and built by A.V. Roe which was the first all-British aircraft to fly. (Roe's previous biplane had a French engine).
