My planes for WW2 Series 6 arrived.
I have only one regret. I bought only 2 Yokosuka D4Y. I was not convinced. Now I am. I'll need 3 more of each deck type...
But let's start by alphabetic order:
Dauntless SBD-5
I bought just two of these. I already have many I decks, and 6 Dauntless. Two from AIM and 4 from Trumpeter. I have the feeling that in less than an year we'll have the Pacific starter box with a couple of Dauntless painted in early war schemes so I'll wait for those.
This model is accurate enough and the paint schemes don't make me want to repaint them immediately. All in all I like them.
Below three photos comparing the three models I have. I'll keep the Trumpeter models for repaints.
Messerschmitt Bf 109K-4
I think that enough was said about this model. Ares replied appropriately and now we have to move on. For those that still can't live with it, AIM makes an excellent K model in resin. I bought 4 for the decks and to have enough planes to stage combats against my bombers.
Below you can compare a Ares Me-109K with a AIM Me-109F. They're a bit different but you can see how the AIM Me-109K will look like compared with the Ares one.
Republic P-47D Thunderbolt
This is without a shadow of a doubt the best miniature of this series. I'm inclined to take out the central drop tank. It's so ugly. And I will need more...
Yokosuka D4Y
I was terribly distrustful about this model. Therefore I bought only two. An inline and a radial one. Now I'll need 3 more of each. And the new decks really capture the essence of these nimble and excellent planes.
