Default BoB Scenario 4 – Canal Battle - Part Two - Blackronin

    July 18, 1940

    Dear Brother,

I am sorry that only now I can write you.
Things are moving very fast and I don't have the time to write more than reports and orders.
Today I lost three Hurricanes and I'm still waiting for news of my men.
Maybe I can post this letter today. Maybe not.
    Probably not...

Section Leader Dave Sailor: This is Yellow Section Leader Dave Sailor. We're joining the party, boys. Over.
Flight Leader Paul Brittany: This is Flight Leader Brittany. ดTwas about time. We have bandits all around us.
Section Leader Dave Sailor: We see them, sir. We'll take the wasps. Keep pressing those bombers. Over.

Pilot Officer Rick Thumberland: Those Hurricanes put themselves on a tight spot!
Section Leader Dave Sailor: Less chatter, Thumberland! They're doing their job. Let's do ours. Nick keep up with me! Lee! Get those One-oh-Nines that are getting behind the Hurricanes! Thumberland keep yourself glued to your wingman! Remember what Joachim and Andy drilled on to you! Good luck, boys! Over!

Flight Leader Paul Brittany: We're now in the middle of them! Aim for the other Heinkel. Be careful with those gunners.
PO Zoe Barton Bridge: Wasn't exactly this what we didn't want to do, sir?
Flight Leader Paul Brittany: Shut up, Bridge!

PO Kenneth Sheffieldlake: You're taking a lot of lead, Paul! Your Hurry looks a mess!

Flight Leader Paul Brittany: Concentrate your fire!
    PO Kenneth Sheffieldlake: He's burning!
PO Zoe Barton Bridge: What a mess! He's going down!

PO Kenneth Sheffieldlake: Ah! At this rate Adolf won't have enough planes to bomb London!
Flight Leader Paul Brittany: I guess that we'll need more than a pair of bombers destroyed to save London. Let's leave this box! Let's move to their rear.

Flight Leader Paul Brittany: What are you doing?! Don't keep up with the bombers!
Section Leader Dave Sailor: Let's be quick joining the Hurries. I have a feeling that their getting themselves in problems.
Pilot Officer Lee Batesy: Yes sir. We're engaging the fighters.

PO Zoe Barton Bridge: I've been hit!

PO Kenneth Sheffieldlake: The gunners are concentrating on me!

PO Kenneth Sheffieldlake: I've hit a Junkers 88.
Flight Leader Paul Brittany: You both get out of the box. They're going to take you down!

PO Zoe Barton Bridge: I hit the other Ju-88!

Section Leader Dave Sailor: Let's take down the leading bomber.

Flight Leader Paul Brittany: Form on me before the one-oh-nines get you! Do you hear?
Section Leader Dave Sailor: Let's forget the bombers! These boys need cover.

Flight Leader Paul Brittany: Section Leader Sailor. My Hurricane can't take more damage. We're going home. Over.
Section Leader Dave Sailor: Roger. You've done plenty. Go home. We'll cover you.

PO Nick Littlevalleys: The heinkel gunners are marksmen! I took some hits!

Section Leader Dave Sailor: Roger to that.

PO Kenneth Sheffieldlake: I've been hit again!

PO Zoe Barton Bridge: I'm down! I'm down!
Flight Leader Paul Brittany: Bail out, Bridge! I'm calling for help!
PO Zoe Barton Bridge: Bailing out, sir!

PO Kenneth Sheffieldlake: I'll take this eighty-eight of Zoe and Louis!
Flight Leader Paul Brittany: Get the hell out of there and form on me!

Section Leader Dave Sailor: I missed it!

PO Nick Littlevalleys: I didn't, sir!

PO Lee Batesy: Engaging the fighters, Sir! We took one down!
PO Rick Thumberland: Well... I took one down. You missed it...

PO Lee Batesy: Well! I see one Hurricane and one Messerschmitt going down.

Flight Leader Paul Brittany: Why do you keep attacking the eighty-eights, Ken! You've got bogeys on your six!
PO Kenneth Sheffieldlake: I almost have it! I almost have it!
Section Leader Dave Sailor: Take that one-oh-nine quickly, Nick!

PO Kenneth Sheffieldlake: I almost have it! I can't lose it now!

Flight Leader Paul Brittany: The one-oh-nine is on your six! Bank right!
Section Leader Dave Sailor: You heard your flight leader! Bank right!

PO Lee Batesy: Aaargh! I'm wounded! I'm wounded!

PO Rick Thumberland: Move away! I'll cover you.
PO Lee Batesy: Yes... Yes... Did I hit him?
PO Rick Thumberland: Yes! Now move away! You're plane is smoking!
Section Leader Dave Sailor: You heard your wingman, Lee! Go home!

PO Nick Littlevalleys: I got him!

PO Kenneth Sheffieldlake: It doesn't go down! I'm disengaging!

WAAF Louise Stone: Section Leader Dave Sailor. This is your angel. Over.
Section Leader Dave Sailor: Roger Louise! Over.
WAAF Louise Stone: There's another squadron ready to intercept these bogeys. You can disengage at your will.

PO Kenneth Sheffieldlake: He got me! Bailing out!

Flight Leader Paul Brittany: Ken! Ken!

PO Nick Littlevalleys: Got hit again!

Section Leader Dave Sailor: I'm taking hits! One more pass and we retreat. There's another squadron engaging these bogeys.

Section Leader Dave Sailor: This one is good! I missed it. He's reversing!

PO Nick Littlevalleys: You've been missing a lot... sir...
Section Leader Dave Sailor: Right! Let's reform and get out of here!

Section Leader Dave Sailor: Hit again! I can't take much more of this.

Section Leader Dave Sailor: And again!
PO Nick Littlevalleys: Move away, Dave!

Section Leader Dave Sailor: Got it! Got the bloody bastard!
PO Nick Littlevalleys: Well done, Dave!

Section Leader Dave Sailor: Let's move away, boys!

PO Nick Littlevalleys: Now that the fighters are scattered we could take those bombers...
Section Leader Dave Sailor: How many more rounds do you have?
PO Nick Littlevalleys: What?! Oh! Let's go home.

WAAF Louise Stone: Section Leader Dave Sailor, you're clear to go home.
Section Leader Dave Sailor: I hope that those bombers meet a tough squadron!

WAAF Louise Stone: They will. I promise you.

    In this Scenario:
This scenario was devised to be a cross-over with my two BoB Solo Campaigns:

My Fire in the Skies Solo BoB Campaign with the 111th Fighter Squadron

    and

My The Kindness of Strangers Solo Campaign
with the 145th Squadron (during the Battle of Britain)

Two sections of these two squadrons met over the Channel:

    111th Fighter Squadron
    Green Section

Flt. Lt. Paul Brittany (Flight Leader) - Hawker Hurricane (Standard) (1 kill) (1 shared kill this scenario)
PO Kenneth Sheffieldlake - Hawker Hurricane (Standard) - SD / S / (1 shared kill this scenario)
PO Zoe Barton Bridge - Evasion - Hawker Hurricane (Veteran) - SD / S / (2 shared kills this scenario)
PO Louis Howell - Rookie - Hawker Hurricane (Standard) (2 kills) - SD / S / (1 shared kill this scenario)

    145th Squadron
    Yellow Section

(Section Leader) Pilot Officer Dave Sailor (Veteran) 3 Kills + 2 shared kills (1 kill this scenario)
    Pilot Officer Nick Littlevalleys (Regular)
    Pilot Officer Lee Batesy (Regular)
Pilot Officer Rick Thumberland (Rookie) (1 kill) (1 kill this scenario - not rookie anymore)

The German bomber crews were regulars.
The German fighter pilots were Veterans.
The new Solo Diceless Decks were used.

Just caught these, really exciting battle Joaquim! How did you split up your formations for movement? Looks like your new system works great here.

    It does.
    Really great.
Thank you for the REP and for the kind words.
What do you mean with the slip up formations?

Were you flying more than one plane using the same maneuver, like flying 2 Hurricanes as one? (leader and wingman)

Ok, I was wondering how you can fly so many planes in so little time. I will give this a try next time I fly.
