Default AAR BoB Mission 8:Adlerangriff ("Eagle Attack") coastal airfields. - 18th August 1940

    RAF 64Sq[/B]
    A Flight Green Sec

    FL J Grisham (E) SH E
    FO O Chamberlain (S) SH F
Fl Sgt Stan Fuller (S) SH G

    B Flight Blue Sect
Capt Bob Webster (Sniper +E) SHJ

Arriving at their designated Angels A flight found themselves facing an approaching cloudbank. Webster who was acting as Stooge on this sortie immediately pointed his Spit upwards looking to get above the obscuring mist.

Clearing the clouds Webster saw the familiar outline of German 109s. Flicking his RC on he called out to a flight " Bandits Angles 15 Tallyho".

Turning tightly towards the nearest fighter he fires a long burst at short range, watching the fuselage tear with the impact of the rounds (7,3)

Grisham Led the flight through the cloudbase only to be confronted by the German fighter cover.

Fuller seeing a 109 directly ahead fired a short burst (4). Holes appeared in his port wing (3)

Jonty and Chamberlain scored hits on their targets on their first pass. the wings of each plane almost touching Fuller finds a second target his bullets passing into the Germans cockpit (2+pilot,0)

Dazed and in shock the German pilot dived and turns for home.

As the remaining planes weaved and turned to get a shot at their enemy only Webster managed to keep on his target.

Oblivious to the cannon shells hitting his fuselage (3) he fired as the 109 dropped into his crosshairs. shredding the tail of the already badly damaged plane. (7,4+LRD)
it rolled into a steep spinning dive (kill Webster)

Grisham Immelled looking around for a target. With 1 fighter diving for the deck and under cover of the clouds he caught a glimpse of 2 fighters and quickly chose one to pursue

Below the 87s plodder on towards their target, constantly checking to see if the RAF fighters were about to drop on them .' Green 2 ,go take a look down stairs and see if we have any bombers there's a good chap '
The flight leaders voice sounded calm over Chamberlains radio.
"Wilco" he replied and peeled off
Webster honed in on another bandit(2) ,a white plume of coolant witness to the damage inflicted (3+Engine) another press on the fire button and the white wisp became a dark cloud as the 109 dropped its nose (6,1,4+Smoke)

Aiming slightly ahead of his target Grisham hits a second 109 (4) as he comes out of an Immell His second burst tearing the aircraft apart (2.1 XP)

"Green 2 Got a brace of Stukas at Angels 12 headed 135 and a fighter headed for France . closing on the bombers"

Webster responded, ordering everyone down below the clouds while he stayed above them

The Stuka pilots looked nervously around for their cover but none was visible

The flight leader radioed to his wingman and took the lead as they crossed the coast . to his left and he saw the sleek lines of an RAF Spitfire bearing down on his planes.
The Stuka pilots panicked Breaking right and left they ran straight into the Spitfires Jonty's burst rupturing the Stukas fuel tank (3, XP)

but not before the pilot got off a few rounds (2,0),
Chamberlains rounds producing a dark cloud of smoke (2+Smoke)

Bravely turning to fly over the airfield the 87 lines up to drop his bombs , but Chamberlains Spit fills the rear gunners sights both gunners fire wild the tracers skipping below and above their targets (000000) Jonty shots hit the bombers rudder (1+LRD)

Sheering right the Stuka drops his 2 bombs (5,0) Jonty has a bead but Chamberlains plane cuts across him spoiling the shot

Chamberlain presses home his advantage and the plume of smoke becomes a glowing red (2+smoke,3)

Panic set in amongst the Stuka crew. Trapped between 3 fighters and a fire raging they turned for home, not expecting to reach the coast of England never mind France
Its rear gun blazing at Chamberlains plane the Stuka weaved about the air .More rounds hit Chamberlain but Grisham's shots and the fire finish the 87 off.

Nice little scrap you had going there. It's good to see some WGS being done. And a good defense of Britain

Nice clip Paul. Reminds me of Winkle Browns notes on taking out a Heinkel. Take it on, head on. It's open all the way and you'll take out the pilot and crew if you hit it.
See you on the Dark Side......

You can always count on Bob as a film . Me Dad took me and some mates for my 10th Birthday to see this at the odeon in Sunderland. Think they all prefered the Kiora and Ice creams. Got me hooked.

In the face of overwhelming odds and without thought for his own safety FL J Grisham has been awarded the DFC for shooting down 3 enemy planes in a single action.
