    Welcome to the Aerodrome Mike!
Thanks for the warm welcome John!

It's interesting, before WoG, I was almost exclusively a WWI air gamer. But with the BoB starter kit, I started purchasing early WWII craft, Dorniers, Hurricanes, Fiats, Gladiators. One of my uncles flew P-47s in WWII, so I did order a flight of "Jugs" and a flight of Me 109 K's to oppose them. I'm picturing the "Jugs" raiding a Luftwaffe base somewhere ahead of the "heavies."

Another uncle was a navigator on a B17G in the 487th BG, so at some point I'd like to order a few of the "Yellow Tail" B17G's.

    Regards,
    Mike

Anyone else notice a few hard to find Fokker D.VII's for sale in the Aerodrome Accessories store? Priced at about fair market value from my experiences snagging them off eBay for the last year.

Last look I saw they were out of stock. A reasonable price compared to ebay selling prices for anyone trying to fill in a hole in their completion list.

just picked up a couple of SE5s from Zatu Games now up to 54 planes. There is a reason - to match forces with a couple of Albatros D.Vs that are in the pipeline. It's a very good reason though

I just had to stumble across this, didn’t I? Sails of Glory is easier because I just need the ship types, rather than specific pilots, and since I don’t use above four ships per side, so really, no more than four of each, and even then, not really. Since I have every ship and plane noted on my lists, the current status (checks mail queue - nothing on the way)

WWI: 118. Didn’t know I had gotten that high, but I’ve been trying to fill out my two-seaters of late.
WWII: 32. This hasn’t changed for the longest time, and I really need to get the new bombers, but pretty much Battle of Britain plus some P-40s because I found them for list.
SoG: Always liked the more involved sailing. Maybe because I actually did sailing and not flying and understand all the jargon and terms. 40! Down from a high of 44 (because I gave away my Ares contest prize of the base game to a friend because I figured he needed it more than me during Covid isolation).

Edit in: already out of date. Added a Do.17-Z and JU 88 A-1 and Duc de Duras/Dauphin.

I think we should expand the dimensions. Are there members who have already a complete (maybe only smaller) Airforce with all active planes during the Great War in their collection?

I got in at the beginning, then bought most of them when people were dumping them at conventions. Also bought some from Shapeways when they use to have sales. Have fun!!!

When I started it was too late to get the initial releases so I first printed paper planes and made bases from old dining place mats. Then I found JSMWarplanes on ebay who made any plane you wanted from balsa at any scale so I bought a heap of those, and then I started picking up WoW/WoG miniatures as they became available. Now I have way too many but justify it by saying I am the custodian of my grandsons planes for when he gets older. The truth of that though is that our grandchildren will rarely be interested in what interests us so I guess I am just an addicted collector.

I picked 40+ because I wasn't sure if the question referred to Just WW1 or WW2 or BSG, or SoG, or what.
In all of the Ares games miniature ranges in the aforementioned games, I have well over 100+ miniatures. In just WW1 alone I'm very near 100 alone.

    That looks quite impressive Simon.
Quite a few games shops I have been in don't have that much stock.

Help me understand something. Other than for resale, why are they all in original boxes. They do look awesome, but for table time, it would take much longer for setup and tear down.

I've taken every plan out of its original box, I know this hurts the resale value, but I can get to them, and store them quickly. But for looks, that's quite impressive.

To me, it is more convenient.
If I plan a game out of home, I just take the planes needed and don’t have to carry the whole collection as if it was stored in KR cases.

Moreover, the editor sells its product in nice colourful boxes.
As I am lucky to have enough storage room, it makes such a beautiful wallpaper (but a little expensive).

Makes sense. Unfortunately I don't have the room. Between this and my other toys I'm constantly struggling where to play what.

Thanks for the idea to present my "hangar" this way @Bishop33. Here are my current and inbound (purchased and shipping) aircraft:
    Wings of Glory hangar_06OCT21.jpg

10 and counting. I'm building "core" friendly (currently Sopwith Camel) and enemy (Albatros D.Va, Fokker Dr.I) aircraft out to pairs (elements) for 1v2 and 2v2 battles. Single aircraft are ones I haven't tried yet or am experimenting with. If I decide I want a second aircraft, I'll buy that at a later date.

Now, to find the Fokker D.VII at reasonable / justifiable prices... After the Fokker D.VII, the Bristol F.2B Fighter (also very hard to find), RAF RE.8, Rumpler C.IV and potentially Albatros D.III are on my list. That will largely address my focus on representative mid-1917 to 1918 for now.

UPDATE #4: 14 and counting (It's hard to believe I placed my first order for Wings of Glory on 23 July...). I sourced a second-hand Nexus 2007 Fokker D.VII (Goering) at a "reasonable" price and it's on its way from the US. I also found a Bristol F.2B Fighter (Harvey and Waight) and it's also on its way from the the US. I have also purchased a Pfalz D.IIIa (Berthold). I've also bought a good second-hand Sopwith Snipe (Baker) - once I knew 4 AFC Snipes were available, I just had to have one to complement my existing Snipe of Barker.

I was doing so well. 56 WW1 planes, that'll do nicely. Then I saw Zatu games doing a much better price on the BoB starter set than on Ebay, plus a few other planes, then some Stukas and Hurricanes from Tim plus the decals from Kevin, who had the exact Squadron marking I was looking for (damn his excellence) and so it has carried on. Oooh, Ooh and then there's ---------

My name is Iain. I collect only WW1. Oh look there's a good deal on the BoB starter box and those Spits and 109s are just what I need.

Iain I can see it’s a slippery slope from my Nieuport above the clouds. Even the sailing ships look good! Thankfully I’m very domesticated & won’t have any problems if I stick to WW1 (I don’t think my wife realises how many WW1 planes there are…)
