Thread: How many miniatures do you own?

  1. #601

As the above poster if you add the miniatures from the different games I have a lot more. But Wings of Glory with their variety and scenarios make owning different types a lot of fun.

Just some of my collection. Plus all the Nexus and Ares official aircraft.

Both the official and unofficial aircraft vary in size a lot.

I just found that when you think you know how many you have, you should never do an actual count. That was a bit surprising.

I "Excel"ed my Shapeways planes, but didn't keep the spreadsheet up to date; later purchases, not updated, rendered the spreadsheet inaccurate.
I don't remember the last date of modification, so the total number is planes is now unknown......

As for WWI I will need to do a head count.

Pffft... 41 isn't even a complete set of the original Nexus releases. Four series of 12, two Balloon Busters 2-packs, the 4-pack Revised Deluxe... that's 56 right there.

As for me, between in-hand and awaiting shipment, one of every "unique" plane except T&T Ball Nieuport, two of every Squadron Pack except the four new German bombers.

I've adapted this google doc from some very inventive flyer here:
    https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...it?usp=sharing
    (Plane Stats by Points tab)

It's useful in buying decisions for new guy helping get similarly matched planes to table and reminding me of gaps to fill.

The highlighted ones are what I own. The darker ones are shapeways or unofficial/custom repaints in the works.

I started mine back in 2014 when I was madly ordering planes on eBay and accidently ordered two of Turek's Aviatik, not realizing that I would want multiples at the time.
    Silly me.

Although I have yet to use an Aviatik in a game ....

That's okay, you could count the number of times I've played on your hands with plenty of fingers to spare, almost all at early-2010s Enfilade conventions.

I like to think of myself as less "owner" than "custodian"... someday, I'd like to see my collection transferred to a museum for use in a dedicated "wargaming as education" program.

Hello Diamondback. I’ve been to one Enfilade convention and hope I would return. This was going to be the year until the “lockdown”. I too have a quite a few planes, mostly WWI and two handfuls of WWII. My kids used to play but they are older now and prefer the immediate satisfaction of video games, ie Reset Button and unlimited lives. I have not bought any more planes in the past three years though, not sure there was any new releases for WWI. Someday, I hope one of my sons takes my collection but he’ll need a spare bedroom to store it. I also have a large fleet of Sails of Glory for another son. That’s one game I never did play and I was too late too sign up to play at that only Enfilade convention.

Dom, by the time Sails set sail I found myself tied up with the needs of aging relatives... even before the bug, for the past few years a "major outing" has meant getting out to see friends at their gunshop every couple months.
