    Default Carronade & Claymore

Ok, its that time of year again, time to think about what, if anything we can do at these shows this year.
Could I have a quick show of hands for who`s available to help?

Currently I`ve just been contacted by the Claymore group about attending but not heard anything from Carronade yet.

Claymore at present is more doable for myself as Carronade is right after Prague. I will have to ply swmbo with lots of goodies in Prague.

Maybe it would be a good idea just to concentrate on Claymore this year since for me at any rate its the "home" show and I can easily get a lot of core kit to the venue?
What with Roland selling up and moving to China! (I think he`s missing a chance there to get a Chinese Wings of Glory squadron going!) and loosing touch with a couple of other players we could end up a bit short-handed!

Too far for me but for those in the area or that can make it:

    Carronade 2016 will be held on Saturday 7th May 2016, 10am - 4pm, Graeme High School, Falkirk, FK1 1SY

    Claymore 2016, will be held on Saturday 6th August, 2016, 10am - ? at Edinburgh College’s Granton Campus,350 West Granton Road, Edinburgh EH5 1QE

I`ve just had table confirmation for Claymore so we`re on there now.
Is there anyone Falkirk based that might be interested in organising something at Carronade?
I`m certainly available to provide backup if needed.

Unfortunately Carronade is full. In future years feel free to drop me a note and I will forward it to the games organiser.

Most of the locals such as myself are involved in running the show so can't help in putting on a game

I thought it might be something like that. last year was put together at short notice and we ended up short handed which is why I thought that just concentrating on Claymore was a better idea.
If any of the Falkirk guys want to help out in Edinburgh you`re very welcome.

Going by my collection we should be OK for the basics since I`ve plenty of Eindekkers, Moranes, DH2`s and Halberstadts available for an August 1916 themed game.
Not to mention some `Non-Official` types like BE2`s, E-IV Eindekkers and FE2b`s.
A 1916 theme might be a good excuse to get your Zeppelin an airing again.

Can do. I've got 2 FEs 2 Eindekker 2 DH2s 2 Halberstadt Rumpler CI Aviatic CI BE2C Gunbus Fokker DI plus the big boy which has not been out of its box for a long time.

Look`s like we`ll be able to manage Ok between the two of us then though a few more bodies would still be welcome to help give us a break and do a bit of a look round.

Chris (Hedeby) came up with a spiffing set of target cards that would fit in with a continuous jump in out game. We also used this at York with idea that if you flew off the tab l e for each move off you could get rid of a damage card. You could re enter t h e game from a specific point at any time thereafter. So less packing away and we just keep the game rolling adding in a bomber or Zeppelin here and there for spice.

Apologies for the thread hijack, but if any of the locals following this thread are interested Falkirk District Wargames Club are attending the Wartime Experience event at the Scottish Museum of Flight this Sunday 5 June 2016. We will once again be running some simplified WW1 Wings of Glory games for public participation. Its always a good day out.

If you are there why not drop by and say hello. We will be in Hangar 4 with Concorde!

    No problem really.
I might make it there myself if possible, if only to get away from all the chaos due to the building work going on in my flat at the moment.

Sorry, I've been rather out of Wings of Glory for a few months. Lots happening at work, jury duty and baby no. 5 plus trying to co-ordinate my son's Warhammer School League team! Now the hols are here I am more than happy to come down and help out at Claymore and the boys are keen to come again if you need more bodies. Just let me know. Nathan

Excellent. I'll get permission from the wife for leave of absence for the day. If we are doing 1916 I do have an eindekker, DH2 and 2 (rather wobbly!) BE2s if required, although it looks like you have plenty of forces between the 2 of you without me needing to bring anything.

I have a `c` and an `a` so a couple more might be handy.
I`m ok with DH2`s since I`ve five in total plus a couple of FE2b`s and 1 1/2 strutters.
    Plenty of Eindekker`s including a couple of IV`s, Halberstdt DII`s and Albatros D II`s.

Super, I will see if I can get my BE2Cs less wobbly and bring them along. What is the current thinking regarding which manoeuvre deck to use for them? I have see a few different decks being used on this site. I have been using the XC but am not sure if it is the best or not.

According to the last set of unnofficial stats I have the deck to use is the XB if you have it.
I`ve been messing about with a personal custom deck myself for a while with this plane but we`d best stick with the XB for the event.

Would be good to have the BE2c cards as I will have to find the download again. I have the XB decks for my planes (or will have the second one by Saturday!). Boys looking forward to a good scrap again.

The house rules for the plane are as follows,
The way the firing arcs work is that before play I let the player decide how he is going to load the plane depending on the mission allowing him up to four slots although if he uses more than two the plane will be flying under loaded conditions unless he leaves the observer behind.
A single lewis gun takes one slot and can be fitted into one of the numbered arcs before play, a camera or radio takes one slot and bombs take either two or three depending whether they are light or heavy.
During play guns can be switched between arcs but take three movement phases to transfer.
The rear arc uses the blind spot rule but it applies at long range as well as short unless the target is at a higher level than the BE2.
