Thread: My new London playing ground

  1. #1

Default My new London playing ground

Finally it's done. Three London KS posters (well, not precisely aligned, I know) under 3 specially ordered cut out plexi parts. How do you find it chaps?

    Magnificent!

Now, why is there no string of bomb explosions behind that Staaken?

    Nicely displayed, Andrzej!

Should I start a 1/200 V2 and try to hit your dining room table?

...oh this mini V2 would have only a range of 1,25 km.

That looks splendid, Andy! Did you do anything to the mats to get them to flatten out, or did you simply place the plexi-glass over top?

    All the best,
    Matt

Thank you chaps, I am really happy how it turned out.
To answer some of your questions:
    1. No Peter, no fish neither chips were allowed till the maps were laid out
    2. I had the mats ironed and then rolled in a tube foir some days. But it did not make the folding lines disappear. On the other hand, they are just slightly visible under the plexi.
    3. The plexi surface is a very convenient and perfectly smooth playing ground, although my sleeved cards are often hard to pick up.

And most of all I played a bombing mission on the table with my wife and daughter yesterday's night!
And we had a blast! The AAR will follow shortly.

I have had a quick cast about the t'internet & could cover a pair of maps with a 3mm acrylic for about Ł36 (so far) so doable project.

    The maps, the maps!
Where the heck would I keep a sheet of perspex that size flat when not in use?

    Simon,

    thanks
The playground fits superbly WGF as well as BoB airfights.
And more - it would serve as a default city for these purposes!
Ballons would be perfect, you are right.
Must look for some WWII UK designs...

Could do with these maps for my 1/400 Scale diecast airliner models - only that it has not got London City Airport on it or that Millennium Dome ... thing! Pretend that they are on the ILS approaches to London Heathrow runways 27 L / R.
