Here's a few photos from the Beachhead show yesterday
Nice Pics Dave, thanks.
My giddy aunt but aren't the big boys HUGE.
I have one in my front room, but I haven't got it to the attic for some table time yet.
Seeing two dwarfing the RAFs finest is an awesome sight!

Just got home, nice pics DM, thanks for that !

Good pics Dave, thanks.
Run for your life - there are stupid people everywhere!
Like the pics of the Giants, nicely done gents
Good stuff. Those Staaken are bloody enormous, can't wait for mine to arrive.
Nice photos! Thanks for sharing. I'm so jealous as it seems you have an event to go to a couple time a month!
I laugh in the face of danger - then I hide until it goes away!
Lovely coverage of the event, Dave! Great to see the smiles on so many faces...
And those big bombers ARE big...
All the best,
Matt
Those clouds are really great, nice job.
Great photos David!
A couple of comments: What a great collection of Jasta 18 birds in that hanger.
I noticed no sign of wing gaps in either the blue or lozenge Straken wings.
Great pics - need an 'oos 'oo again
Whoever belongs to this - can we see it lit up, please ?
That one belonged to one of the punters (top left pic 9 taking photo on his phone), it was switched on and lit up but that may not come across in the pic, he was shot to ribbons and on fire but still attacked - good man !!
As for a who's who - pic 1 Tim - Flying Helmut - on left in the flying helmet; Right, in foreground is Steve - Guntruck- ; behind him is a punter called Rod who escorted my RE8 on that side of the field; In the right foreground is punter Adrian aka OkYaa on the forum who shot down my RE8 on his side of the field. He and Ajay handed me 13 damage at +1 between them in one phase.... ouch !
Andy aka Ajay is in right of shot of pic 3, there are two punters to his right who were very interested in the models & the game, we didn't manage to persuade them to play though.
I am in pic 5 instructing the young lady who then went on and used my new Fok D.VII as a blunt instrument in a number of collisions with the gent to my right ! She did get to set the balloon on fire before getting shot down though.

Thanks for the pictures Dave.
Gives a good idea of the flavour of the show.

Staaken flavoured.....
Run for your life - there are stupid people everywhere!
Great pics Dave - can't wait to arrange a day out for the Staakens and HP's at TWWS next month
Fantastic pictures Dave. Well done to all involved.
Staakens - one thing I noticed was the top wing join on the blue version is not as noticeable or pronounced as on the camouflaged version.
Next stop ... Hammerhead 2016 & Overlord (Abingdon) the following day!
I shall add mine to the pile - have to apologise that the coverage was spotty and I didn't take many as my camera started playing up - think it's worn out from all those OTT AAR !
Table ready for action ! Tim makes the salute, Ajay to the left, DM and OKyaa in the background.
Mission 1 - one of my RE8's over target taking the photo - Ajay's E.V in hot pursuit, so hot he's smoking, Adrian's Tripe can be seen closing in in the background and Guntruck's Camel in the foreground trying to get me out of trouble !
Over the other target my second RE8 is closing on the target and Tim's infamous Fok D.VII Steffi is smoking hot too as it tries to see off Rods Camel that was covering me on that side of the table.
The fatal damage shown in the second row at +1 - 6 points from Ajay & 5 from Adrian to finish me off...
And it had all been going so well !!
The second RE8 managed to mostly elude Steffi with Rods assistance and interference and got away with its precious photo's.
The UK, if not world, show debut of the Ares Zeppelin Staakens when they meet some stiff opposition !
Having engaged them closely one of the punters discovers the dangers of attacking them from behind and staggers away trailing flame and smoke. That's my Spad XIII in the right foreground (wishing I'd picked the Spad XII Ca1 at this point !)
I Immelled as I passed the Giant and opened fire at point blank range.... 2 x Pilot special damage cards scored, much grumbling from the pilot when he resolved them as four gunners downed ... Get some !!
I flew out in front (giggling) as I was immune from any gunfire & prepared to Immel once more !!
I roared back in and set the monster on fire with this pass - get in !
I was really happy until I went past the beast and the surviving gunner dealt me a second pilot wound and down I went, my camera went tits up in celebration of this so we will have to rely on Tim's photo prowess to capture my demise... the good news is that fire damage took the beast in the end but others contributed further damage too.. The second one got away... bigger table next year methinks !!
Thanks you for watching !

Very nice pictures needs a little story with them, sorry the story came up way after the pictures but it was there very nice.
Great pictures!
Thanks!
Great pictures, David and Dave! It is good to see that the Zeppelin Staakens are already getting into the action.
Looks like it was a lot of fun.
Nice to see the first UK outing for the giants - bloody hell they're some size !!!! I had better strap some extra guns on my Bristol if I am to go Staaken hunting at future shows....
Never Knowingly Undergunned !!
A View Through the Helmut-Camera - Game #1
Ready for the off!
The RAF opposition - 2 RE8 recon kites, with a pair of Camels for escort.
initial approach
"Hmmm, a bit outnumbered; I'd better go around them."
Hit by the RE8's observer, 'Steffi' coughs out smoke.............
The EV engages the other recce plane, but where is his Triplane wingman?
"Das ist besser....." <<dakka dakka dakka>>
Still no help....
"Ausgezeichnet!" <<dakka dakka dakka dakka dakka>> (2 'A' cards @ +1 4 & 5, total 11!)
Help at last! But the EV is now smoking
"Verdammt 'Immelmann'!"
<<dakka dakka dakka dakka dakka dakka dakka>> 14 damage points in a single phase!
One down! (bottom row @ +1)
The crew survive
'Steffi' in pursuit, but with jammed guns
A near-collision prevents the Camel firing, and the RE8 rear gun is jammed, too!
Help is far away
Guns cleared, and the RE8 is still jammed! <<dakka dakka dakka>>
A Camel heads the Triplane off at the pass
I swing left, to shake off the other Camel, but in doing so I lose touch with the recon kite.
Near collision!
My colleagues are coming, but will they be in time?
'Steffi' finally stops smoking; I recover ideal position, but the RE8 is out of range.
Far out of range of my comrades!
A final, despairing shot, but the recce plane just won't go down!
RESULT: - one RE8 shot down, no German losses, but the other RE8 escaped the table with its photo, so RAF WIN
Just for once, 'Steffi' survived! (bottom row cards are @ +1)
Game #2 tomorrow
I laugh in the face of danger - then I hide until it goes away!
Good to see 'Steffi' in the air, Tim! A shame she was 'on fire'...
Great pics of the event, Tim et al....great to see such fun being had by all...relatively speaking...
All the best,
Matt
Thanks for the Photos Part Deux, Tim.
I figured all those lovely red rabens must have been yours ....
Loved the dakka dakka dakka as well - feels like we were there in 5.1 surround sound
The photos and commentary were splendid Tim.
Well done to Steffi.
Rob.
"Courage is the art of being the only one who knows you're scared to death."
I think a Cotton & Betts DH4 might make an impression too but a challenge to use as no Immel in its deck. I found the Spad XIII quite effective when over using the Immel, up until he shot my pilot dead that is !
Sapiens qui vigilat... "He is wise who watches"
Great stuff, Tim! Thanks!
Tim did an outstanding job running the games and taking the match photo's at Beachhead - please shower him with some well deserved Rep if you haven't already !

A View Through the Helmut-Camera - Game #2 Balloon-Busting!
The good guys!
The target, ringed by 3 AA guns, and two of the defending scouts
The DVII veers off to engage a British scout - we other three press on towards the balloon
DVII collision!
Another SE5a appears - now it's 4 against 4 plus AA guns..................
I nip into the clouds, to hide my approach; British AA lines up on the Roland's flight path.............
A near-collision for me in the clouds, while the Roland ploughs straight ahead..............
My cloud ruse works! In the clear, facing no defenders. Elsewhere, the 4 RAF scouts engage my three comrades.
Ajay's Roland is bracketed by "Archie"! And hit by a Camel! And by an SE5a!
The Roland staggers onward, whilst I approach, apparently unnoticed.
Ajay fires on the balloon; two RAF scouts collide!
I fire on the balloon, but the Roland is now too close to join in, and Ajay is again fired upon by his pursuers.
Ajay's Roland can take no more (note the AA hit - a 10!)
The two Fokkers engage the balloon, whilst I turn sharply away, to throw off the British AA gunners.
The DVII sets the balloon on fire!
Oh, for a bomb! That AA gun would be just a smoking crater! Both the German scouts are too close to fire on the balloon again.
SE5a 'B' shoots down the Triplane - just two of us attackers left!
I fire on the balloon again. The DVII is now hit by "Archie"
And then there was one (me!); I sideslip closer - my rear gun is now firing into the gas bag, The Camel and the SE5a share the kill.
I circle the balloon; my observer hoses bullets into the blimp (double 'B' cards @ +1) - no gun jams now, please! YES! Another flame hit!
Now it is my turn to be hit by "Archie" - that's three of us! Luckily, I draw a '0'
Finally, the balloon succumbs to the hail of bullets and the licking tongues of fire!
Down in flames
A GERMAN VICTORY - but at such a cost! Two late-joining RAF scouts made it a big ask for the Huns! Three AA hits didn't help either, but luckily two were '0' cards.
We stopped the game at this point, rather than have the four RAF scouts massacre my Hannover, because it was time to fetch out the Giants!!!
Stay tuned!
I laugh in the face of danger - then I hide until it goes away!
Even more great photographs, Tim! Thank you for posting them.
Again a big "WELL DONE" to Tim & Dave for the reports & lots of great photos.
More great stuff, Tim.
Loved the "Red Raben" in action.
Another nice presentation Tim, well done
