    Post Reporting for Duty

    Greetings

I have just retired for the final time, after a 22 yer career in the Air Force (retired Msgt, in shop maintenance F-111, F-15) and Diplomatic Security at 30 years total service - 35 years overseas, 40 countries.

I have just jumped into Wings of War/Glory, doing lots of Research. I also interest in Air Force which is more complex. I have several areas of interest:

1: I have built gimbals using 1/4" doughnut magnets using 6mm Chrome ball bearings - works great for attitude, bombers will need larger doughnuts and ball bearings.
    2. incorporating speed to altitudes using references from http://www.wwiiaircraftperformance.org/ great resource for technical aircraft information
    3. using GHQ military vehicles for Air Force board game on Hotz maps
    4. WW1 Ballon Busting scenario
    5. using full altitude rules for all games to include correct speed for each level

thanks see ya at the aerodrome

On behalf of the Squadrons based here in Dear old Blighty, welcome to the Drome Jon.
I'm sure that some more of your own countrymen will be along to say hi when they return from the afternoon patrol.

Welcome to the 'Drome, Jon, from Middlesex in the U.K.

Sounds like you've been busy already!
I am a great fan of gimbals - the way they make the planes look like they are actually flying. Gimbals and altitude make for super pictures; hope to see some of yours!

Hello Jon. Welcome to the Aerodrome from across The Pond. I too have an interest in military aviation which since 2003 has focused on WW2. It certainly comes in useful to have background knowledge of the aircraft you will come across in Wings of Glory rather than thinking of them as just gaming pieces. Anything you need please just feel free to ask as the Aerodrome is a friendly Global community.

Lockheed (General Dynamics) F-111E ... My Aerodrome callsign is the nickname given to this type of aircraft in Australia. The RAAF have decommissioned the last of their F-111Es / F-111Gs but it still remains one of my favourite military jet aircraft types along with the McDonnell F-4 Phantom

I loved working on the AArdvark, my aircraft was directly involved with the bombing at Tonkin Gulf during vietnam, it was the A model, all analog. most F-4 pilots converted to F-111 at some point, so I am very active in POW/MIA activities.

Bienvenue Jon from the darkest depths of Brittany. Not a place I imagine you have been to in your Tour of Duty but well worth a visit if you can.

Ps are you a Giant or Gang Green fan?

Latter for me , and the Skins.

I'm learning to fly, but I ain't got wings
Coming down is the hardest thing
