Well, the Comox Valley Strategy Club's Second Thursday of December Meeting was tonight, and I hosted Wings of Glory.
Only Shane [Skyguy001] and I showed up. Shane brought a few of his planes, and I brought a few of mine. It turns out Shane has a Brumowski Albatros in his collection!
Anyway, Shane flew his two planes as D.Vas, and I flew a Camel and a SPAD XIII. His first D.Va blew up, after inflicting two "5" damage cards and a pilot wound to my Camel.
The SPAD and the Camel then attempted to nibble away at Shane's remaining plane, inflicting all sorts of special damage to it.
Rudder jams, smoke (seen here), fire (below), and many, many cards
I finally consider retiring my Camel from the combat, but I didn't turn the right way, and Shane got a parting shot...
The one was all I had left...
Now it was down to the remaining Albatros and my shot-up SPAD. I had four cards to Shane's mitt-full. I had to try to take him down.
You can see here Shane's fire marker and the pile of damage cards he had collected during our game.
Shane finally went down, but not without inflicting a fair amount of damage to my SPAD. Shane ended up with almost twenty cards!
A tight game, despite my early advantage with the Boom Card. The Albatroses and the SPAD were equivalent in lack of maneuver, and I really should have been using SPAD VIIs, to equal things out, but I hadn't brought any with me. It was a challenge to keep the SPAD on the single mat, but a good experience trying to fly it.
Thanks for a great game, Shane!
