Wow - it's not even December yet, and you are putting us all to shame with your to-do list!

You are a force to be reckoned with, Neil

Currently lined up are another He177, 6 Blenheims and some Mustangs. Chris (Boney10) has promised me some HeIII decals so some AIM Heinkels are likely to make an appearance as well. Also some of these stunty henchmen

I've also got 3 stunty henchman dressed as Napoleon and two guardsmen I picked up in Antwerp.

A Fokker D.VII... and whatever else I can fit in. Possibly a pair of Boomerangs and a Wirraway...

Sadly my December efforts are likely to mainly be heading for Ebay rather than the Skelton collection, but I do want to at least get a few of my 60 squadron birds done for myself in December - WGF Morane Scouts, and Shapeways Nieuport 16s and Morane BBs. Oh, and probably a Fokker D.VII....

Since December is the shortest month in the whole year , not many models are and will be on the table (considering a bunch of kites finished in November). Just one Japanese aircraft carrier Shinano in 1/700, as a game mat 3D decoration to be completed very soon.

That is excellent news Darell - my health slowly on the mend too after causing recent havoc for my Wings of Glory interest ...

INBOUND: Project SPIT/2ASR which aims to convert the Vybiral Supermarine Spitfire Mk II Nexus we all know (P8081/ DU-R) into a 276 Sq RAF (Air Sea Rescue) Supermarine Spitfire Mk II (P8031 / AD-C) mostly via cosmetic changes. These will involve paint and decals and colour scheme wise will change the underside to yellow with Air Sea Rescue markings. I have a good idea about what this aircraft was used for during WW2 and also that it was regarded as non-combatant. Will make an interesting addition to the Wings of Glory collection once completed.

WORK IN PROGRESS: Project HPV/K2 continues to make slow progress though there has been a setback. There will now be only one WGS compatible Handley Page Victor K.2 Tanker which results from this project instead of two. The other airframe has had to be withdrawn after being sanded wrongly eliminating all surface detail by accident. Upon spotting what had happened the remaining airframe was sanded by a friend of mine professionally. So with one practice airframe and one official airframe that at least means only one set of decals is now required for the 57 Sq RAF tanker. As is only one set of Manoeuver Deck cards and custom stand which I still have yet to even find (impossible) or buy (sourced from same place as XH560's stand.)

Hopefully I'll have an SSW R.V to paint come December 16th. Until then, I've been contemplating doing something with these for Star Trek Attack Wing.

    Some Lou Zocchi stuff there?

  12. #12

    Default

Correct. I have at least a dozen unpainted Zocchi Feds of various sorts - CAs, DDs, DNs, and a tug. There is also a Zocchi Klingon D7 in that stack, but for the most part everything from my SFB days I'm not going to bother with. Rounding out the collection are a few FASA Trek ships, along with some Micromachines.

I used to love SFB and the ships that went with it, John! Thanks for the walk down Memory Lane!

And are those Minions you have there, Steve?

My Snoopy rework is coming along apace - almost done carving off the Happy Holidays (Bah, Humbug!) and looking forward to shooting it with primer later this week...

And now I have to decide which Fokker DVII scheme to paint! Can't wait too long...

    All the best,

Crikey, those Xmas versions are $20 each! Yet you can get the version without the Xmas message on Amazon.com for half that price.

Holy Cow, Carlo! That's quite a list you have there - that should keep you busy for a while

I love your Baron von Snoopy, Steve - I have one of those Snoopy models, too, and am probably going to repaint him down the line somewhere...
I went out last night and snagged another holiday Snoopy to repaint - but he was only $8.00. That price you're quoting is pretty steep...
The holiday version is made out of a resin-like material that my Dremel had no trouble grinding.

    All the best,

Sure. I was a huge SFB guy back in the day. These days I find it a little too time-consuming, though I will say this, a year or so ago my eldest son and I played the Planet Crusher scenario using Fed CAs, using just the basic rules and nothing else, and we had a blast.

I still have the 4 x P38's, an Orc Flagger, 2 x Frostgrave Wizards and Apprentices, 4 x Nieuport 17's, 2 x DR.1's and 2 x DV.VII's. Apart from the DV.VII's which I will attempt to finish for the painting competition, I suspect most of them will still be there in January. I just can't seem to find the time at the moment for any serious painting. If truth be told the enthusiasm seems to have deserted me as well. Don't know why.

(Unladylike phrases) - the last lot of decal paper I bought is a dud - possibly laser, rather than inkjet, as it repels the ink.

Good job there's still a few weeks to go before the comp ends.

    I feel your pain, Dom!

The amazing number of models folks have in the pipeline (Neil and Carlo!!), coupled with the numbers of individual planes folks have, staggers the imagination! My 'obsession' is nothing compared to some of you lot - that must be why I love it here!

1 Ukrainian, 1 Latvian, 1 Polish, 1 Soviet, and 1 for the comp.... need to finish off the SSW R.V too.

    UPDATE:
The Ukrainian and comp one are finished, bar detailing (mg handles, pilot etc). Due to dud decal sheets, the comp one is about 40% paint, 60% decal. And the decal's mostly the lozenge and markings.

I was reading about the Farman M.F.7, and to my surprise it acted not only in the reconnaissance role in 1914-1915, it did some light bombing and a little in the fighter/escort role in the first half of 1915.

A Re-housed Snoopy. The original was a bit hefty to use with over 4 pegs, and I prefer the original natural wood colour scheme of the cartoon, and the green flying helmet.

This one's considerably lighter - stiff card reinforced internally with matchsticks so it doesn't warp when humidity changes. Dimensionally not as tall, but wider to give a more winged appearance.

With my P40 I now have 3 aircraft to fight the invading Japanese.

A delayed print at Shapeways has now been done and on the way with:

    Hawk III's
    Fiat Cr32's
    Nate's
    Claude's

And my AIM order has just been posted too:
    PI-16
    P43a
    Ann's
    Sally's
    Nell's
    Pete's

Another 31 aircraft! (Plus 2 more SB-2's to paint)

Now does anyone know anyone who makes this in 1/200 scale?

Neil, your Chinese planes look lovely! Thanks for the continued inspiration to try new schemes and planes!

Although I don't want to jump TOO far into WW2, I do sort of have a hankering to do some Spanish Civil War stuff - I've always loved the planes and camo schemes from that conflict...
