Cutting it close...same here. I have something arriving Friday. If I don't get it I can still complete the plane but it will be a lot more difficult.

    Good luck.

Has anyone encountered problem with publishing his/her profile album according to the contest rules? Herr Oberst PM - no pictures - while I can clearly see them in my Profile Album. I am afraid we are gonna face that "Bomber Contest" virus again...

You should be able to see them but no one else will. I just went to your profile and there was nothing I could see of a DVII contest.

I know that, Peter. But Keith wrote there are no images - and this is what I am afraid of.

Oh-Oh. I hope there is no problem that can't be quickly fixed. I won't be submitting until the deadline on Sunday. If I have any trouble I'll miss out.

I had no issues with mine Andy - did you cut and paste the BB Code found at the bottom right of your Album images into the PM ?

I created the Profile album with pics but will send a separate PM with BB codes as you suggest Dave. Thanks!

Maybe e-mail would do the job? It wouldn't be pleasant to face same issue twice

If something similar happens, I'll do that.

I'm afraid I was not very clear in my response to Andy's PM. I could see them in his album, but needed them embedded in the entry PM sent to me....

Via your profile page, create a new Album (left hand side menu), name it WGF Fokker D.VII Challenge and select Profile as the album type. Upload your photos to this album and send me a PM with the below info. PMs must be received by midnight (site time) on January 31st.

Subject of PM: WGF Fokker D.VII Challenge - Your Username

    • Real name
    • Username
    • What miniature was used
    • Pilot and Unit name (if based on historical scheme) if known.
    • No more than 3 photos (Cut and past the BB Code found at the bottom right of your Album images into the PM.)

With all of the entries, it’s too hard for me to keep track of which plane goes with person and not get something mixed up. With everything in a single PM for each entry, it’s super easy (and quick) to just go through the PMs and build the voting thread from them.

Thanks for everyone’s understanding on this part of the process.

Now it's hopefully done the right way, Keith. [It is right, yes? ]
With such a growing number of entries you must have a real headache sorting them.

3 days to go... how many entries are there, herr Oberst?

If you give me a list of pilots/jastas (though not who entered them) after the contest closes I can make a post with photos, profiles and historical data to give background.

Reserve model? You did more than one? My eyes have just uncrossed from doing one!

I faced true ordeal with mine... Everything what possibly could go wrong - actually went wrong... Including almost finished Fokker falling down, destroying previous work. So, I will not enter my first choice, but something other - repaint of the repaint. With some luck, I'll finally post my entry on Saturday

Valom kits come two per box so I made them at the same time. I confess though I hadn't realised they had the brass etch stuff when I purchased them.
At least they fit where they touch.

We feel your pain. Sorry to hear of your bad luck. I hate having a lot of hard work being wasted. Good luck with your repaint of a repaint entry.

This weekend I will finish the two I am working on. I couldn't decide which to do so I started on both! Pretty sure I will submit the one my wife chose, we'll see when they are done.

Just have to seal it tonight, glue the wing back on in the morning, and hope for sun in the afternoon...

Well finally finished the little beast this afternoon. Making a pilot from Milliput and then painting and fitting him into the plane was not as easy as I thought it should have been, but why I'm surprised at that I don't know as nothing has been easy with this project.
Fool that i am I have now got back onto the second model but with some experience gained from the first I'm hoping for a better build. I will not paint (and Wing Decal) this one first before assembly.
Got my entry off to the Oberst this afternoon so worries about missing the deadline were, after all, unfounded. Still, a close run thing!

This promises to be a truly epic contest. While there will be many like me who are just in it for the fun, some of the entrants are masters of the modeller's art, and it will show.

I don't know the server time relative to GMT, but local time is 2305 on 31st of January so not long to go.

Glad to see lots of people finishing up!

And for a time check for everyone, it is currently 0611 server time. Check that against when the site says I made this post and you can figure out the deadline time.

    Good luck everyone!

Just in it for the fun like you Zoe, and it was surprisingly, fun that is.

Repainting is really interesting thing. I need to finish some Finnish planes (decals, cards etc). And hopefully new Shapeways order arrives just in time to fill the gap.

Nothing like waiting until the last day to apply decals - only to have them disintegrate... I guess that shows me who's boss, eh?!! I shall have to Dullcote the decals for my next attempt, but I think that won't be in time to get this little Fokker in in time for the contest. Ah, well, it will be lovely to see all those that do make it and try and decide on my favorites.

Congratulations to all of you who did not wait until the last minute to finish things up!!

    All the best,
    Matt

I know, Sven...it's my fault for dawdling, not the decals... - always a good lesson to have reinforced

By my reckoning you have nearly 11 hours to go - so depending on the state of the decals you might be able to salvage them.

    Good luck anyway.

Well, I believe "11th hour" was part of the theme...

And my lesson learned from this exercise is that next time I'm going to use a decal-intensive scheme in a contest I'm going to beg use of a friend's color laser printer. The injket decals were far to delicate, even after 6 coats of sealer. I'm sure I'll change my mind after I see the competition, but right now I feel I would've had a real chance to place had I more waterfast decals that I could've treated more aggressively.

Loaded mine up today after tea-time. Got the model and the decal sheet before christmas, but had to wait with the project until two days ago, because we have moved over the new year and furnishing the hobby room was the last item of the to do list...
