    Default Tiny Dr1!

Hi all! Today i recived my first mini DR1 and after comparing it to my Camel, albatros DVa, and RE 8, its tiny!! I have been reading books on WW1 air combat and there were no indications to its size. I had always assumed it was the same size as the standard scout. Was anyone else suprised by its size when they first saw it?

    Fokker Dr.1 dimensions:
    Wing Span: 23 ft 7 3/8 in (7.19 m)
    Length: 18 ft 11 1/8 in (5.77 m)
    Height: 9 ft 8 in

    Sopwith Camel dimensions:
    Wing Span: 28 ft
    Length: 18 ft 8 in
    Height: 8 ft 6 in

So the Triplane was about the same length as the Camel, but much narrower.

Not really as I knew it was a small plane. I am glad Andrea got it right(in scale) though.

I was surprised when I first saw it's size compared to other minis. I couldn't believe how small it was. I always envisioned it larger!

Back in the 1960's when Airfix was the go, the Dr1 was also small compared to my other WW1 models. Usefull addition has some great shart turns in the deck!

Yeah its the wingspan that makes it look small, I suppose it didnt need the wing span with the extra wing. Lovely kite all the same
