    Default Southern California (Pasadena-Burbank-Glendale)

    Hello Fellow WOG,

    I just bought several WOGS planes and looking to play some games with others rather than solo. Game Empire in Pasadena is my local gaming store as they have areas to play but the most groups play WH40k or X-wing (which I play there).

    Let me know if you want to meet and game in the Pasadena area. I'm willing to travel to other areas but prefer to stay local. I researched that the St. Crispin's Irregulars have a gaming day every second Saturday of the month and might have WOG but not sure if WOGF or WOGS so I may need to buy some WOGF planes (start of addiction: )

    Welcome to the Aerodrome Bruce from the other side of The Pond. Your FLGS sounds excellent as well as a good place to start when looking for other players.

    Wings of Glory has been likened by a friend to skydiving: Great fun in a group but sometimes just as amazing on your own! I play a lot of Solitaire games when opponents are not available and find them useful learning opportunities.

    Anything you need please just ask - the Aerodrome is a friendly Global community which doesn't do noobs or flaming. I've been playing WW2 since February 2015 and totally recommend it. WW1 is fun too but I only play that occasionally

    Greetings Bruce and welcome to the Aerorome. WGS and WGF are very different, you should definitely have planes for both!

    Still on the fence on buying WOGF. Part of the issue is that I now have two miniature games (WOGS & X-Wing) and storage. Wife looked at my WOGS collection and said "More Toys?" which I replied "gaming miniatures of historical significance".

    Yes, storage is an issue we all face. There are lots of different solutions. I have an album with photos of my storage. I did a "How To' thread. If you search I'm sure you'll find many others. (click on the How To)

    Peter - I found your post on storage. That is a great idea. I was looking a Plano since they work with my X-wing minis, but the dividers were too small for WOGS planes. Do have issues with your planes moving around in your storage container or is the felt thick enough that the planes are snug? I'm might make tuckboxes/hangers (or find online sources) for my planes.

    Matt- Thanks. Too bad the local store doesn't carry WOG, but I do buy my some of my X-wing there. I'm trying to start a group meet there as I have more fun gaming with a group than solo.

    Hi Bruce, I haven't had trouble yet. I left the top cover felt free so I can see what planes are in what box. They do move a little bit if you jostle the case as there is room to spare. With felt on the top if they did move they would be better cushioned. It is a bit of work to make these but its cheap. The Aerodrome Store has storage trays ready made but you'll need a case to put them in.

    Welcome from Poland Bruce. There must be a fine community of players in your area I am sure. Since X-Wing and WoG share some rules it would be easy to play both games in your club.

    So far there is only one person in the X-Wing group that has a few WOGF planes but I have WOGS planes so I may need to purchase a few () WWI planes (or receive as Christmas gifts). As of now I'm learning WOGS so I want to hold off on WOGF for awhile.

    Thanks for the welcome. I'm hoping to get 3-5 players as our X-wing group ranges from 8-20 players.

    Many more aircraft available & like the originals many more different manoeuvres for the various aircraft.
    The games designers have done a top rate job in reflecting the actual ability of each aircraft.

    That is what I'm worried about as I have already bought all of WGS Series 5 and found two Series 1 Wildcats (ebay in UK). Believe me, every time I look at the store on the site, I want purchase a lot of WWI planes. I still need to have my first game with an opponent with WGS. Right now I'm interested in Pacific Theater fighting, then Battle of Britain. The plan is to add WGF later (WGF from the wife and kids for Christmas).

    Hi Bruce;

    I used to play WOGF at Game Empire a few years ago. I've been by there a few times more recently to check out what people are playing but haven't stayed to play. Some friends and I have recenlty started playing X-Wing and have played WOGF on occassion. I"ve never played WOGS. I'm out by Santa Monica so I don't get out to Pasadena much. I'll check in with you if I'm going to be out that way again soon.

    Hi Frank,
    Sounds great. Where can you meet? Game Empire is convenient for me, but can meet anywhere in SoCal. I'm available Monday-Wednesday nights 6:30pm-9:00pm., and some Saturdays (mornings and afternoons) and Sunday (after 2pm). Note I only have WWII planes until my Ares Wings of Glory kickstarter WWI planes arrive which should be in two weeks.

    Bruce;

    I stopped by Game Empire last week and saw they have a WOG group starting on Monday. Did you set that up? I'm planning on going this Monday.

    Hey Dave,

    Nope, I didn't set up the WOG group on Monday but plan to attend once work and family obligations settle down as well as my health (currently I have a cold).

    Hi Bruce- been off this site for a while but wanted you to know we've got some players up here in Santa Barbara. We sometimes trek down to the LA area to play. Have some WGS, but mostly got WGF and have **plenty** of planes to share, if you ever wanted to give the system a try. Waiting on the Handley Page O/400 and Zeppelin Staaken kickstarter planes, which should be showing up any day now.

    We've got a little website put together: http://www.sbwings.com/

    Hope we can fly together sometime!

    Bruce (and other players in Southern California) - My wife would say that I'm too old for toys, but I bought myself (too many) WOGF planes this past December and I am hoping to play a game with other players at some point soon. I am mostly in San Diego, but make it up to to Los Angeles (SF Valley - Burbank) fairly frequently. Next time you have plans for a WOGF session, I might be interested.

    Welcome Tim! I have family in San Diego and get down that way on occasion. Might be able to meet up down there for a game, too. You might check some of the local stores - it's possible some of them host games, or would at least be willing to have the game played there. A good handful of good game stores as I remember. Good luck!

    Welcome from Alameda, CA home of the USS Hornet! It looks like there is a great scene in SoCal. I am a bit envious because my most frequent opponent is an AI for solo flights. Have fun with it!
