As with the entente 13 Central Powers planes in play with 39 awaiting their turn.

Thanks to Tim (flying helmet) this was possible. He produced 104 aircraft to make this game great.

26 members with Eileen and Karen working hard to keep us fed and watered throughout the weekend.

What a load of planes! Congrats to Tim, who looks like he's found some of Clipper's elves himself

Great pictures, Neil - the venue looks quite nice and cozy - where is the event held?

    All the best,

    Me too!

I remembered my camera, as well as two complete sets of replacement batteries.

When I tried to take my first photo, a warning message popped up "NO CARD" I'd left the data card at home, in the SD slot in my computer!

    No pictures for me

I learnt a lesson - you can't run a game and take piccies if you want to keep things moving - alas the responsibilities of being a grown up...

Bit b-y peeved that ever since Doncaster I've had a bad flare up of gout in both my hands / wrists ... In fact I first noticed it on Sunday. Very probably medication side-effects as this has happened before but what a time to go and suffer from this & not be able to play WGS at all!!! Talk about Boredom (when not on Aerodrome) + Withdrawal Symptoms = Making Grateful Recovery.

For once the light at the end of this tunnel is not the headlight of an oncoming train ...

BTW - Did Stafford Games ever turn up on the Sunday?

i love the historical venue. it would be awesome to play wings surrounded by historical relics (though, perhaps a bit too distracting)!

That's the best part about this particular museum as a Wings of Glory venue: You play in a period building surrounded by a working and well run museum ... But the distractions IMHO are not there. Members of the public are advised that there is a Wargaming Event on in that part of the museum - know this from when the first Doncaster event was held. At the same time as the Wife and I visited South Yorks Air Museum for the first time ever in our pre-WoG Playing days.

Basically had I stuck my head round the door as a member of the public and seen what was going on back then I would have been here a lot longer than since February 2015! Actually - there is one distraction if you are me and that is the Museum Shop because it is ram-packed full of diecast aircraft models & I am a collector

that does sound cool! i was talking about staring at the cool displays. ive got the attention span of a hummingbird lol. yeah, the gift shops in such museums usually hit me right in the wallet. i think i spent around $200.00 on reference books on my one trip to the smithsonian lol.

Phillip I still reckon that you could successfully play a game at this venue and relax / enjoy it. I suffer from short concentration spans and can be easily distracted so usually I have to be uber-careful ... However here I was soon feeling relaxed enough not to worry about that allowing me to enjoy the game more. The only worry I did have was a really trivial one (borderline stupid as you are about to see ...) Did the shop have the latest Corgi Aviation diecast model releases in yet and what if they have got them all in at the same time??! Talk about pull yourself together Barney!!!

    Thanks for the pics, Neil.
The venue is awesome and second to none. Not only displays and relics all around, but a fully equipped kitchen where we could prepare meals and drinks in between battles.

Getting a venue like that makes all the difference to the atmospere and gameplaying. While Cons and the like are great fun they do tend to be in the "sterile" surroundings of big Halls, possibly with a few poster/exhibits etc. At the Donnie venue you have the real thing genuine pieces of history surround you and, you can literally smell it.
If you can I would recommend you put it on your bucket list You will not be sorry.

    Weirdly, I haven't noticed!

Two Doncaster events now, and I still haven't had a snoop around, haven't looked at any exhibits in other rooms, STILL haven't found the gift shop:- all I have done/noticed are the games themselves!

Awesome venue for an event/weekend like this - it would be like running games at the Air Force Museum, only cozier...hmmm, I wonder if anyone has contacted our museum to see if we could run events there...perhaps I shall have to investigate this possibility...

    All the best,

Ares Fokker Dr1 for Top Ground Attack pilot in Andrzej's "Hunting High and Low" game.
Ares RNAS DH4 two-seater for the winning bombing attacks in Chris Hedeby's "Two-Seater Mayhem" game.
Ares SOG French Frigate for providing the 104 aircraft required for the "Ace of Aces" competition game.
'Bomb' shot-glass from Flying Officer Kyte for providing the 104 aircraft required for the "Ace of Aces" competition game.
A set of laminated "Ace Skills" cards from Chris Hedeby for something or other (probably for being a top chap, or something ).
A set of Teaticket's Fire and Smoke markers for my placing in the "Ace of Aces" competition game.

Last, but certainly not least, a "Poland" pin badge awarded to me by Andrzej, to mark me as "an honorary member of the Independent Polish Air Force" for bringing, and flying, my flight of six 303 Squadron Hurricane Mk I fighter repaints in the Battle of Britain game (I flew a "vic" of 3, and I was honoured to have Andrzej himself fly alongside me with the other "vic" of three).

    Best Doncaster bash yet!

The prizes and presents you brought back are just a simple reflection of a sentence: the more good you give to others, the more good you get in return.

Looks like another great time by all. Nice pics by all that have taken and shared them, thanks.

Yes Chris, it is tough to run a game and take pics. I also try but then both the game and pics suffer. Better to just run the game and let others record it. That said I will always still try to get a few shots of the games I run.

    Nice haul of prizes Tim.
