Thread: Like watching paint dry

    Default Like watching paint dry

I am the proud owner of one of those Richard Bradley templates from the Aerodrome shop. Acting on a friends advice, I painted the numbers and lines with some humbrol enamel before removing the paper from them. My problem is that the paint does not seem to want to dry. Two days later it is still tacky. I do not remember that paint being like that before. What is your experience?

That a bit weird Gary! The Humbrol is enamel I presume. Maybe the glue on the paper backing is preventing it from drying.
You could try a heat lamp but not too close in case it buckles.
Short of that remove the enamel & try a waterbased paint which I use on Keith's altitude dials.
    Good Luck.

    What Barry wrote.
I stopped using enamels (Humbrols especially) many years ago and recommend acrylics that dry fast, may be removed easily if needed and "forgive" you errors in painting.
In your case the enamel probably reacted with the plastic, melted it and that is what you got.
Use a hair dryer (not too hot air!). Ask Herr Oberst about the sort of plastic he used to make the template and get further info on how it reacts with enamels...

I carefully removed the paper. Will see how it dries now.
