Thread: Perfect card protectors

    Default Perfect card protectors

    Hi all,

Ive seen a couple of threads on here about card protectors (which I can't locate now) and, having found the items below just yesterday I thought I should share. They are made specifically for WOG size cards and fit like skin. At £1.40 for 50 rude not to really. My damage decks and my newly made solo cards deck are fully protected now as arevthe plane cards for every model. I may even gradually do my movement decks.
    Hope this is of use.

    These are the decks

And in the UK they are stocked here

I use this type and some others ("penny"), that come in packs of 100s. These ones are sturdier and cards fit very well.

How muck thicker will, say a deck of 20 be?
I have never seen sleeves IRL because there are no gamestore near by.
I buy all my things on-line.

When fitted it makes the deck about one and a half to twice as thick.

Oh, interesting. I will get some of these. Not for the "real" decks, but for the ones I have copied to fly the Merit type planes. These will be great.

I have used sleeves for other things and they are nice. They can be slippery though, so be careful!

EDIT - looking at a website (Atomic Empire) they also offer a 41 x 63mm sleeve. Have to be careful when ordering to get the correct size.

Nice spot - think mine are the Fantasy Flight ones which seem to work well - I would be interested in seeing these though. Currently it is only the damage cards I have in sleeves

Chris, I use Mayday sleeves for my sails cards, I'll show you at our next show.

The correct size for WoG cards are what are called Mini Euro size, 44 by 68mm
These are the red topped ones if you use Fantasy Flight sleeves.

Played a solitaire match with the diceless decks now 'sleeved' in these = game moves much quicker now that the cards don't stick together.

Glad you found them of use. I like them because they fit so tightly and exactly its like the cards are laminated. All others leave a mm or two around the edge. Not found the perfect protector for the larger WW2 decks yet but working on it.

Has anyone found sleeve that will fit the bomber cards and management cards? I'm interested in Gotha and Caproni sleeves (and I assume eventually Staaken and H-P 0/400 ones). I've been checking the stores around here that seem to have pretty complete coverage, but no one has the right size...

    All the best,
    Matt

In the search for protective sleeves for my Gotha and Caproni cards, I felt sure there HAD to be something out there. So before surrendering to the whims of the internet, I decided to try a couple of more stores around town in hopes of finding something suitable. The comic book store that I used to frequent ages ago also has card games, and I felt they might be worth a try. Alas, they had the same card sleeves as the other places I'd looked, but they DID have something different, too! They also carry baseball cards - and baseball cards are a different size...

It turns out this is just what the doctor ordered! And the price is not too bad, either

Here is a Caproni management card in the baseball card sleeve - I think I can live with this!

    All the best,

Thanks, Matt. I will look for these.

Off hand, I don't remember how the size of these bomber cards compare to the larger maneuver decks, e.g. P-51s. I would like to sleeve those larger maneuver cards.

I've only played WW2 once, Eric, and I was flying an FW-190D; as I remember, the fast movement card is right about the same size as the bomber card. It would make sense for Ares to use the same size since they already had it in the pipeline...

Hope you find they work for WW2 - alas, I have no official WW2 planes yet...but the Dark Side does beckon - it won't be long, I fear

    All the best,
    Matt

the large maneuver cards are the same same size as magic the gathering cards so any of their sleeves will fit.
