Thread: Any word on the New WW2 releases? Been very quiet....

I've no really put my two penny worth in as yet to this thread but from some of the posts it seems we may well agree. WGS is stuggling for one main reason as stated above. Ask anyone about WW2 dogfights and the first thing theey talk about is early Spitfires against the Bf 109. Can you get any?.....no. I think that what needs to happen is pretty much the same with any game. Ares need to produce a few 'core' figures that are always available. Need not be swanky re paints or anything just say 4 core WGF and 4 core WGS that will be kept in producion / in the shops then work with others around these. This way a newcomer can always get a start at a reasonable price. Dogfight packs would be fine. Imagine if Flames of War put out a statement that you could no longer buy a Sherman or a PZIV? OK possible bad example because a Sherman I can get anywhere (oddball say that?) but not 1/200 scale planes.

    A very sound philosophy Nigel.
    Back to basics.

A sound point of view, Nigel. The basics!

It was a bridge - "I don't need you - 60 feet of bridge I can pick up almost anywhere, schmuck!"

Oddball is one of my two movie character icons, the other being Dom de Luise's "Captain Chaos" from 'The Cannonball Run'.

With reference to the Sherman, it was "A Sherman can give you a very nice..........edge"

I too would like to see continuous availability of the Spitfire, Hurricane, Bf109 and Bf110. They are the most requested minis at the shows we attend in the U.K.; when WGS is on the table, the pubic always ask after the availability of the iconic Battle of Britain planes, and are always really disappointed when told they are out of production.
I have managed to acquire a few of each, through ebay and other aftermarket sources, but not nearly enough.

(With excuses for the double post (and really, I do not have any connections with the team behind the kickstarter )

Alternative game with 1/200 metal model planes on Kickstarter now: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects...-tabletop-game

Although I hate the rule system with a vengeance, this is where Blood Red Skies has the edge over Wings of Glory, in that the planes are more readily available with with reasonably reasonable releases.
