Thread: Blackburn Kangaroo

    Default Blackburn Kangaroo

OK, not a Blackburn. An Eastern Grey, a big one, about 2.5 metres from nose to tail.

Our yard was a bit too small for it to get a decent run up to jump the fence... but we managed to corral it through a side gate and onto the driveway. Last seen heading south down Burn St. Following traffic giving way - as you do.

My son took a picture as he was departing. We're in an inner suburb of Canberra, just at the edge of the CBD, so while we sometimes get wallabies on our front lawn, it's rare to have the much bigger kangaroos.

Australia is the home of deadliest animals.

I always wonder how Kangaroos, Koalas and Wombats fit into this environment.

It's home to a few more things than deadly spiders and jellyfish ...

My summary of Australian wildlife just goes "nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope"....

The SO coined a phrase which could easily describe Australia:

"There's enough NOPE in there to power Las Vegas for a year."

With all those problems, Barnaby, it is a wonder anyone lives there.

After living in Africa as a child I find the Australian wildlife a bit more laid back. In Africa there is always some thing that that wants to harm you in any way possible (and that includes the locals) whereas in Australia you have got to be stupid to annoy the local wildlife. Except for the introduced species, in particular huge wild pigs (I mean 400kg +) and wild water bufferlow.. The worrying thing about sharks (especialy the Bullshark) is where they have moved into the local waterways and cannal water front estates, but otherwise its ok
