Default AAR - HMS Glorious - Norway 1940 Version 3

    All,
The HMS Glorious makes it's appearance at Games & Grounds, Courtenay, BC. This was a trial of the GottaCon 2015 Scenario, where up to eight players will be participating.

The Glorious with two 46 Sqn Hurricanes on CAP, and two ready on deck. Four Bf-109s are inbound with 250kg bombs. This was Maneuver Three, with the two CAP planes turning toward the incoming fighters, and pilots scrambling for the ready fighters.

The two CAP fighters had some shots at the inbound Bf-109s and 46 Sqn plane two was mauled. One of the Bf-109s was hurt, but not enough to drive it away. Then, as I really don't know how to fly these fast planes, I was way out of position, and making bad turns.

Two bombs have hit the Fo'c'sle, with no special damage. Still over one/third of the hit points for the ship. The ready planes were off the deck, and both got shot up by the incoming Bf-109s, only one was tagged in return.

We re-read the AA rules, and were applying them a bit more correctly, this time. Place fire markers on one turn, and the following maneuver they go off, not immediately. It helped Shane [Skyguy001] a bit, as he didn't wear every shot.

I didn't learn from Neil's[Skafloc] lessons in previous games, and in this shot the close range trade of damage took down the Bf-109 at the bow. The simulated altitude roll put him high enough that he splashed just the other side of the Fo'c'sle, and missed the ship. Too close!

Shane elects not to bring in more fighters, as we were into our third hour by now.

The AA fire from the previous image goes off, and one shot tags a Bf-109. It takes a hit, and a fire starts.

With the previous damage from the CAP encounter, two turns of fire damage take it down.

This is the Octuple 2 pdr guns aft of the Tower taking a shot at Shane's last bomb-armed plane, as his other fighter is going down the deck straffing the deck crew.

The Boom Chit makes it's appearance, and down goes No. 4!

We called it a game, and the HMS Glorious survives! Yay!

HMS Glorious with 110 pts of damage, and a serviceable flight deck. Two Hurricanes with three and two points of damage remaining.

Three Bf-109s splashed, and one nearly undamaged at this point. If he ran, he may have been tagged by AA fire, or not. The two Hurries at the back end were nearly out of fuel, and would be on landing runs, not chasing it down. So, probably a RTB.

Nice game, and we should get a decent Con appearance if we throw lots of planes in the air. There is a potential for a Stuka run, if Dave [epiphanius] and Bruce [LS650] bring their planes. Then, we could try a Gladiator vs Stuka game. Historically, there was an aerial victory for a Sea Gladiator on a Stuka in Norway.
