    Lightbulb Airfield Mop up 2.

Airfield Mop Up 2 was played at The Williamsburg Muster 2015

Background: A German recon flight is sent to asses the damage from the earlier attacks. They are met by greeting party.

Set up: Two airfields in center of table. Attackers may set up two firing sticks from airfields. Defenders over their airfields.

Forces: Two MIG-3`s and two Lagg-3`s for defenders.
Two HS-126`s and Three ME-109E7`s for the attackers.

The Russians came in fast and furious. They concentrated on the group flying for German group on their left. Their first pass damaged the 126 and it went down short of it`s target.. I was escorting the second 126 which after a single pass on it flew straight to the target and started to the rear. I split off and joined the fur ball which had been going on fast and furious in the center of the table. As you can see in the photo #6 Dave is savoring a kill on a lone 109. But alas i got to him first. After that point the last of the Russian fighters went down one by one. In the end it was deemed a German victory, despite only reckoning one airfield.

For the Hs-126 we used a Stuka card for firing and maneuvering, with 12 hit points. It was a fun game. I want to thank Bob, Dave, John, Corey and his sons and our new friend Frank!

That 126 certainly looks very good on the table Rich.
I would love to use one over Malta, but can't find any reference to its use in that theatre.

They were a short production run aircraft. It`s engine did it in evidently. A not very good modification of a Bristol Jupiter. They probably showed anywhere the Luftwaffe did!

Again good photos of the battle and my Lagg going down. Oh well.

I know it hurts. I survived only one game in four myself. I also only had one confirmed kill, sorry David!

All is fair, as they. I had a great time in all of the games.

Bob -- thank you for the gift of the counter die (for those not at the Muster, it is the giant red d20 in some of the photographs). It is great for keeping track of turns!

Yes we did have fun! That die came in handy. If memory serves me right we played an average of 15 turns per game, some more! I cannot remember the name of the gentleman sitting next to you.

    Nice miniatures in combat.

First I thought you sent a Henschel HS129 into combat... Poor Russians!

A Hs-129 would be icing on a bad day cake for the Russians!
