Default Getting Started in Wings of Glory

I just picked up the game...... couldn't resist the fantastic models. I am trying to learn game play (have played X-Wing and Attack Wing, so I am familiar with the maneuver mechanic) and am not certain that I have fully grasped all of the game mechanics. I played at my local hobby store this past Monday with another player who was into the WWI version. We played one game of each era. A you-show-me-yours-if-I-show-you- mine evening of gaming. I enjoyed both games, but I was teaching the WWII game based solely on having read the rule book. I hope that I have interpreted the rules correctly and know that I didn't get much of the advanced rules integrated. Is there a good source for examples of WWII gameplay and thorough explanation of the rules? I have seen a few YouTube videos on the WWI version, but am more interested in the WWII version.

Welcome from Poland, New Yorker WGS rules are quite easy once someone shows you them in action. Chaps here will help you. I suggest contact (PM) my friend Thomas AKA Cappy Tom, from Ohio Buckeye Gamers and he will guide you perfectly. Have fun.

Thanks David. I must have missed that video on YouTube; it was helpful in clarifying the movement for me. Luckily we had interpreted it correctly. Being a veteran gamer (along with my fellow students of the game) we have found the rules clear enough to derive a consensus of interpretation. Just trying to make certain we aren't creating a wildly divergent set of House Rules. This helps...thanks, again.

    Doug,
Welcome to the 'drone from Vancouver Island.

It is pretty simple, but I have something that may help? Try this college project spin-off, a "training" film: Wings of Glory Training Video

There is an intro video on the same page, that shows a quick dog fight. No altitude, just basic rules, but fun.

I live in New Jersey if you want to meet up some time. Been playing for nearly eight years so it will be easy to show you.

Welcome Doug! You're actually pretty close to me, I work in Albany and live about 35 minutes to the west. I just started playing WGS recently as well. I don't really have any previous experience with miniatures games, just a strong interest in old warbirds that drew me to this one. My gaming has been limited to playing with family so far, but I'd be open to branching out!

I think SWA gameathon will be the 2nd Saturday in December in Schenectady at Proctors. I'll be there running a couple of sessions of WOG. There is a good group that plays there, 12-14 each time I've run games.

    Thumbs up

G'day Douglas & welcome to the 'drome on behalf of the pilots who fly in NSW down in Australia.

May I suggest you read a few of the After Action Reports in the WW2 section as an additional aid to see how games progress plus you will find some interesting scenarios you might enjoy playing.

This guy hit it home. He does a great job explaining the basics. Couldn't have done it better. If you have any other questions about different rules please just ask away or send a PM.

Welcome Douglas! You are lucky to have local players willing to show you how to play. I had to fly some solo to understand the game. Fortunately, there are great resources for solo play on this site.

What planes do you have? There are many great planes yet to come for WGS!
