Thread: Metal and Resin aircraft list

Default Metal and Resin aircraft list

    Hi all,
This is just an initial post to start a list of Metal and Resin planes that are available in both 1/200 and 1/144. Other scales like 1/285, 1/300 are not listed.

There is a separate list for Shapeways made planes (thanks to Teaticket) see here:
    http://www.wingsofwar.org/forums/sho...s-on-Shapeways

And a list for the premade 'Gasaphon' models that I have complied here:
    http://www.wingsofwar.org/forums/sho...hapon-Listings

As well as a listing for injection molded (plastic) kits (thanks to baldrick62) here:
    http://www.wingsofwar.org/forums/sho...d-kits-options

If people want to add sources to this list PLEASE PM me rather than posting in this thread (in order to keep it tidy and easy to look through).
There are quite a few others that do NOT list any contact details other than postal address (very last century!) or phone number (which is really awkward for international sales!!).

Has anyone managed to contact HBM lately? I've tried four different email addresses, the two here and the two on the website, and they all bounce.
    Cheers

    Hello and good afternoon Carl,

thank you for your prompt reply. I shall wander to the 'armamentsinminiature' site now. Mayhap it would be a good idea to amend the above list of manufacturers as well.

    Cheers muchly

If that is that strange box thing on my page, then yes. And I'll answer it when I understand what it is and why I am here. So far I admit to being lost on the site. So I'll have another wander and let you know in a while.

In the meantime Glen if I can help to guide you around the site just drop me or one of my Squadron leaders a PM.

Sky Pilot produce some metal models, which are usable as 1/200 scale although they may be 1/190 scale. The usable ones are the Corsair, Hellcat, Thunderbolt, Lockheed Lightning, Mustang and Typhoon. They also produce models which are further from 1/200 scale of the Messerschmitt Bf-109, Mig-3, Zero, P-40 Warhawk, Dewoitine D.520 and Spitfire Mk.VIII.

The same models of the Corsair and Lockheed Lightning are sold by the Red Bull Souvenir Shop but they bear a Red Bull paint scheme.

Very cheap source of several models in 1/300 scale.

It is a pity that those plastic aircraft are not 1/200th scale, Dino, but I now know where to buy replacement planes, if I lose any from my Battle of Britain board game. The Plastic Soldier Company also sell two similar bags of spaceships; warships and freighters.

Does anyone have a website or source for the Sram 1:144 models? I would like to add their models to the Wings of Linen wiki. The best I've found thus far is a simple list on scalemates.com.

Sadly, SRAM kits are long gone, as is their website. Very nice models, albeit a bit delicate for Wings of War usage unless you replaced the resin struts and undercart. You can still find them occasionally on Evilbay and second-hand kit dealers.

I used to deal with the producer direct (in Czech Republic if I recall correctly), and managed to snaffle a large box of kits when he told me he was packing it in. Still have several in the loft awaiting their turn on the work bench. The Scalemates list looks pretty comprehensive to me.

If it's the same chap I think it is, he listed multiple items on ebay, many of which I won, then he scarpered with my money, and I never received any of them

If you do get some of these non-WofG aircraft models, what do you do about bases and maneuver cards for them?

Hi Jeff, Litko (https://litko.net/) make a range of bases and posts that are fairly cheap, and here for you to download and print in our files section. You can find movement cards for every deck for both WWI and WWII. WGF Mates and WGS Mates are the file names. With mates you get one card for each manoever deck, and that card has each movement on it. You can use a deck that you do have for your planning and the mates card for the actual movement on the table. My group played the other night and it worked pretty well.

Thanks for sharing this link. How is the quality of the printed models?

Roc-works are generally pretty good though some of the sculpts are better than others. Most are Roman Troyan (planeprinter) or Steve Toth STLs. The print quality is good on the whole but there are normally some fine layer lines which can be removed with light sanding (I use 600-1200 grit wet+dry). Some of the models may also suffer from slight warping of the wings, but not that you'd notice from tabletop distance.

    See examples here: https://www.wingsofwar.org/forums/sh...l=1#post574725
