I am looking to pull together an 'Ace of Aces' competition, a 1 vs.1 knock out tournament that can run alongside the main games of the weekend. More details to follow

Count me in Sir!
it's in the diary
The only concern I have about your solo recon mission Barney,is that it may not cater for enough players.
Also from my reading of recon missions, they did not so much seek to engage the enemy as run away. Not much fun for either side. How long in games moves would it take a Beau to fly up the table recon a site or two and then get back?
It has the bones of a game, but may need fattening up a bit.A first thought might be a furball at the British end of the table which he has to avoid on the way back, thus catering for a few more players.
Rob.

A thought after reading a PM from Andrzej:
Overseas participants who wish to put on a game might be restricted by their luggage allowance as to what they can bring.
Please submit a list of requirements with any slot bids and we can see what we can fill from this side of the pond/sea/channel/river or any water you may have to fly/sail/row/drive over.

See you on the Dark Side......
I can also take orders for ham & peespudding stotties, if there are any takers.

Nightbomber (Andrzej) is working out a scenario for Doncaster based on the Eastern Front.

Provisionally could potential Games Organisers work on 6-8 players for their games initially. As we get closer to the day we can increase this once we know numbers. This would also keep the timings down without overruns.
Cheers.

Stotties - the discovery of 2014... yes please
What an excellent idea - especially as this could apply to both versions of Wings of Glory. Also does not require oodles of gaming mats
On a separate note Flying Officer Kyte's advice to me about the 'Study Your Adversary' recon mission I proposed on page 4 of this thread has been read and noted. Thank you very much for the advice ... I will find a way of looking into the points raised. Even if it means bringing my old gaming mat off the wall where it is now preserved (the one with all the kangaroos all over it) to attach to my current mat and taking a Beaufighter out on a suitably-lengthed flight practice sortie to investigate. This would create a gaming area with boundaries 180 cm x 90 cm in area - which should do the trick here.
On the same post one of my ideas (Number 3) has changed from a skirmish involving four F4-F Wildcats vs the IJN in 1943 to something a little closer to home. Did anybody spot the historical error which was a bad on my part in the original idea? Richard Bong never flew the Wildcat - he was famous for flying Lockheed P-38 Lightnings. Apologies for that perfect dud there
B17 mission might be a non starter, wrong kind of paint was mentioned (sorry Steve).
Andrzej is working on an EF scenario.
Chris (Boney10) is working on a Dambuster scenario.
The WingCo and myself are working on the OP Pedestal scenario (Thomas could we incorporate your Supplies for Rommel game into this?)
AussieTonka is working on a Beaufighter scenario.
All very WW2-ish at present.

I did have an idea for a three phase WW1 game - spot it, photograph it, bomb it.. could build nicely, am sure we could find a squadron of DH4s from somewhere. Happy to work with anyone who wishes to champion WW1
Thats a good format fr a mini campaign. I've used that setup a few times in the past and it can lead to some interesting scenarios
Neal is right. My plan is to bring along only a bunch of my custom+offcial minis plus their stat cards (if any): I will need bases+pegs+man. decks there. No need for a special mat, since it's going to be a low level mission over open stepped or green terrain as it was historically.

Shaping up nicely and people are talking and helping. Keep it up.

The WWI campaigne sounds to be a great idea so count me in on that one
I'm learning to fly, but I ain't got wings
Coming down is the hardest thing
Blimey I seem have stirred up a bit of a hornets nest - sorry about that !
I think we could do something wonderful with a flight of six DH.4s - I have another idea if the mini campaign is not workable - fancy chatting it through over a pint at Triples?
I don't think I am in a position to run much with only 3 WW2 planes (even if one is a Galland 109 which I recently acquired at a very reasonable price, lol) so although I will hopefully get a chance to play some WW2, would like to run/assist in running some WW1
Did we still have interest in my bringing SGN ?
A great set of books to read too.
