We will have a paypal inspired whip round a few days ahead of the gathering to ensure a healthy (or not as the case may be, lol) supply of beery beverages to see us through the Saturday when most folks are not driving...
As we could have a rather large 'crowd' ourselves would it be prudent to try and arrange the possibility of hosting the dinner shindig at the pub next door to the hotel that is withing staggering distance?
See you on the Dark Side......
As quite a new sprog, I've only attended a few shows, and have never seen or heard beer mentioned once. One of my other hobbies is brewing, and I have a small micro set up in the garage brewing ales from the grain (not, I stress from kit). As the subject has been raised and if you feel appropriate I am quite happy to brew and supply a firkin (72 pints) or a couple pins (36 pints) of ale to help the proceedings along
How can one refuse such an offer from Jez, Chris.
What do you think?

Could we run a poll for naming the beer ?

Something along the lines of Doombar or 6X would be good, or Marstons Pedigree, oh what the hell anything as long as it is not "blonde " like we get in France.

Ah Well you might have heard of Coreff http://brasserie-coreff.com/ Its the nearest thing to real ale and brewed here in brittany. There is a bar /restaurant in our local town/village which serves it. http://www.tripadvisor.com.ph/Locati....html#76275887
I suffered for many a year with no real beer, but red wine is sometimes a fine substitute

This is nice, Neil Many thanks

Can't argue with that one Neil, and I was going to suggest Dog-fighter, but yours is much more poignant.

Need to set up a pole with a shortlist of say 5 names perhaps. Perhaps Jez could choose the 5 as he is the brewer of this great ale.

That is quite possibly the finest idea I think I have ever heard - been to the event, got the t-shirt (or polo shirt), got the badge, drunk the beer... it has a nice ring to it. We should have a competition to name the beer if Jez will let us. 'The Aerodrome' does sound like a good name for a beer, or Dogfighter ! that sounds like a real ale...
Lol just read subsequent posts - and Wing Commander - great minds think alike it would seem (Dogfighter)
We could get the hotel to mix a special cocktail for the Wingco.... 'Flaming Wreckage' sounds like it should pack a punch, lol
Anything you would like to add Jez ?

Thanks for the comments. Consider it done. I would be more than happy for you to choose a name and will see if I can set up a poll . In terms of style, the suggestion so far has been for a darker (not blonde) ale. So I have worked on this.
Yesterday was spent brewing for my Christmas guests and with this in mind I produced a new recipe that would fit this brief, being a traditional chestnut coloured best bitter.
Strength 4.7%ABV. (I can simply adjust this by reducing or increasing the amount of Barley) Pale Malt barley base with plenty of crystal malt added to give mouthfeel and a more malty taste. I then added a small quantity of chocolate malt to lift those malty flavours and add a darker chestnut colour. The hop schedule was traditional Southern english style (not too bitter) using English Challenger as the bittering hop, East Kent Goldings for aroma and a handful of Czech Styrian Goldings after the boil to provide an aroma lift at the end.
Should be ready for drinking in 3 to 4 weeks. Will keep you posted and let you know what people think. Most of the beers I brew these days by request are pales with hoppy fruity flavours using Australian and American hops. I rather enjoyed myself producing typically english beer again.
If you need a second opinion Jez, you know where to find me.

If Jez is being generous enough to provide liquid refreshment, methinks we need something to convey said beverage from barrel to mouth. So let me run this up the flagpole and see who salutes it: assuming the price is right, would anyone be interested in an engraved glass to commemorate the event?

I'm in, especially if we can get some proper ones with handles.

While we are on te subject of extras for the meet.
Is there any interest in having another badge to go with the original.
The badge would be the same but with the date changed yo 2015. Or would we prefer to have a scroll with Doncaster 2015 on it ( instead of having the whole crest)
The badges come in sets of 25 for ordering, price would be between Ł4-Ł6 (the more ordered the less the price).
But and the big but is I would need the money in advance this year.
So any interest so I can check numbers and thus viability

I am for the scroll, but how would that go down with new members who do not have the badge yet?

I'm in Chris. Would prefer the badge rather than the scroll though.
