Default Hi from a new chap

    Hi all,

Have yet to pick up the game, but have immediately decided its amongst the best things I've seen in quite a while! Am going to be picking up WW2 R&A with a brace of aircraft to get started, then I'm sure the bug will bite - even if it has limited game use i need one of those Lancasters!

Where do people recommend for getting hold of these models in the UK? My initial searches have proven very limited, a few on Amazon and eBay seems a reasonable source, if a bit overpriced from first impressions. edit - i should mention ive read through the sticky, which didnt give me too much joy - mostly up north or out of stock sadly!

Look forward to chatting with you all,
    Jon

If you want ME109's, Spitfires etc try Armaments in Miniature, bases from AA (Keith) and decks from the blister packs which are still around; Eagles of the Reich and Flying Legends (both from ludibay.com at just over 4 euros).

Otherwise it's search the net and hope for the best.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone, genuinely amazed at such a friendly community having been disappointing at the hands of many other forums! Thanks neil, ill give Armaments in Miniature a look, Hopefully will have the rules and few initial aircraft in my hands in the next couple of weeks.

A question I do have for people in general - if you were to start from scratch today, would you go with WGF or WGS? I intend o get both in time, and although lean to WGS can't shake the appeal of a bit of biplane dogfighting!

Welcome from Cape Cod. Armamants in Miniature are just unpainted resin models. They are a good WW2 source. Shapeways has an unbelievable list for WW1.
You can check out Shapeways here. http://www.wingsofwar.org/forums/sho...s-on-Shapeways

Hi there, a bit late, but welcome.
For WW2 try Stafford games, he has a few of the new ones.
Unfortunately ( here comes the rant) you'll find it very very hard to find official early war kit, Spits, ?Hurries and ME109. They now quite long oop , no idea when the due in.

    Welcome, Jon, from Vancouver Island.
Yeah, if you want Battle of Britain planes, it is a bit of a wait.
I have a few, but only through the luck of finding a store that had Spitfire MkIs and Bf-109E-3s on the shelf from ages ago with no-one in the local area playing the game.

I'm still using the excuse there are no suitable planes to stay away from the WWII version, but it's denial.

    Thumbs up

G'day Jon & Welcome to the 'drome on behalf of the pilots who fly in NSW down in Australia.

As a long term player I would recommend starting with WW1.
It is an easier game to master plus you have a fantastic range of Early, Mid & Late War aircraft available with the Official Minis not to mention Shapeways etc if you are into painting them yourself.

Thanks again chaps, have taken the plunge and have the pair of duel sets on the way, with a nice spreadsheet planning out my future acquisitions which look pricey enough to take a fair few months to accomplish!

Now to eagerly wait at the door until they arrive and then try not to buy everything on my list when payday comes - wife wont be impressed!

Also thanks Boney10, gave them a good look, also discovered my old friend waylandgames.co.uk has a fairly good selection of minis for reasonable prices, and can recommend them from other non WoG purchases to anyone hunting for a supplier.

Hello and welcome from Germany! Well yes, Amazon and Ebay are pretty overpriced here too. If you order in large enough quantities to compensate shipping fees, an order to oversea direclty to the Aerodrome Store is a very good and reliable alternative.
