Default Mosquito to Fly at Victoria International Airport, Victoria, BC, Canada

    All,
Just got a note that Victoria Air Maintenance is going to fly their restored Mossie today! Darn. I could have been there!

Pictures of the project: deHavilland Mosquito Restoration Project

News of the project: Warbirdsnews.com -Airworthy deHavilland Mosquito Restoration Approaches Completion!

Hope someone in Victoria gets out to see this. I'll see about capturing any news coverage tonight.

To bad you missed it. You should come to Alberta we will soon have an over abundance of them

You must be very disappointed, Mike. I hope that you can find some news footing.

    Update.

Due to technical difficulties, the Mossie didn't fly yesterday. No word on when it will fly, as they try to fix whatever it was.

So, no news clips to share, yet.

And no, Darell, despite that your mosquitos need air traffic control, I don't want to experience them. I had enough of them in Manitoba.

    Latest Update:

The Mossie is now scheduled for first flight on 26 May.

Hmmm.... I might be on the way back from Enfilade 2014, and be able to catch this? Planning, planning, more money for hotels and food.

I may have to give up some of my plane budget, though

Latest news: delayed again. Good thing I didn't stay in Victoria on the way home from Enfilade 2014.

Great pics Mike. you lucky fellow.
i will watch out for its appearances with excited interest.
If Bird watchers who chase rare birds around the countryside are called Twitchers, what are those of us who roam from airfield to airfield in the hope of seeing a rare aircraft in flight?

This is a bit of necrothreading, but I think appropriate.

I finally saw a video of the restored plane, a documentary showing the restoration process and the first few test flights. Worth bringing to your attention, if you haven't see the show already.

And now that I've gone looking for videos related to the above productions, I've found the Calgary Mosquito Society, which has a library of documentaries on several subjects, not just Mosquitos:

    Worth a look.

And with this post, I hit 5,000!
