Thread: WARNING !!! WARNING !!! DANGER WILL ROBINSON!!!!

Default WARNING !!! WARNING !!! DANGER WILL ROBINSON!!!!

In past threads on how to strip paint from our little friends I have plumped for Windsor and Newton Brush Cleaner and Restorer. It works wonders with paint crusted in the bristles, even taking the paint from the handles of the brush. It cleaned nylon and plastic brushes with no problems. Saturday I decided to strip the Gotha I had painted for the Gotha challenge a year ago but never entered. Upon placing the plane in the plastic box and covering it with the brush cleaner it immediately started to strip the paint I had put on. Giving it a little time it got down to the blue color of the original. I decided to leave it overnight to get the small bits that remained. Lo and behold the next morning all of the little bits of paint had dissolved along with the wings, landing gear, engines, etc. The only remaining piece was the fuselage. I had never had that happen to the plastic before so felt safe in recommending it. I'm sorry for anyone who tried this and had the same result and I do apologize most humbly and deeply. My little fiasco cost me the price of the plane plus $30.00 for the Brush. Cleaner. I hope no one has had this experience

Thanks Rob. I wasn't sure where else to put it that folks might see it.

We all learn from what we do. Another reason this is a great place you learn from so many others. I saw that ACITONE will release CA glue. I tried it and nothing happened except some paint came off the F-Toy Swordfish.

The old Pine Sol would loosen the paint on plastic toy soldiers.
If the toy soldiers were left over night, they might also dissolve.

I am not sure what the new Pine Sol does.
