Thread: 1/144 WGF & 1/144 + 1/200 WGS Planes on Shapeways

  1. #1

    Default 1/144 WGF & 1/144 + 1/200 WGS Planes on Shapeways

I find it a pain to search out the Shapeways guys that make the planes we need.
So to make it easier for WWI and WW2 searching I made a spreadsheet for each. Now you can search
to your hearts content! (don't blame me if you spend too much!)(wish I got commission!)
    I list 1/144 for WWI.
    I list 1/200 and 1/144 for WW2.
I list the accessories on their own. You'll find all sorts of goodies like ground targets, pilots, gunners, Zeppelin parts, balloons...

I list plane, type, version, notes, price (sometimes for multiples 4/$15.55), and importantly, maker.
I hope this helps all those out there getting Shapeways planes. If I missed any let me know and I'll ad them in.

    Reading this file...WWI
    Col A Make, Col B Type, Col C Version, Col D Notes, Col E Price 4/15.25 = 4 planes at $15.25 2/ 9.00 = 2 planes for $9.00
Col F model designer, Col G++ link to specific plane page starting with highest number of multiples first on to singles last.

    WW2
Col A scale, Col B make, Col C type, ...notes, price and designer and links.

Most WW1 prices are not up to date. I update a few every time I update the list. To get the up to date price use the link to the Shapeways page.
Those marked 'nfs' are at the moment not for sale.

    Excellent file, Peter!
    Now, what about WW2?

I'll get to it. So WW2 planes are 1/200?

Just got my WW2 rules today with some Japanese and a couple of Grummans. I think I have to restrict myself to the Pacific or I'll go crazy!

(ok, couldn't help myself, I went crazy)

    Yes, they're 1/200.
    Just the Pacific?
    No Me-109's for you?
    No Heikel 111's?
    Really?!
    No Battle of Britain?
No dogfights in the frozen skies of the Soviet Union?

    I wonder...

I know... too many good places to fight over. I'll start in the Pacific and see where it takes me. More to save my wallet than anything else!

Ok Joaquim, I gave in. Besides Pacific US and Japan I now have BoB British and Germans, Pacific British, Dutch, Chinese, European French, British, German, US, Russian...

I just got the WW2 rules today. For planes I only have 3 P40s, 2 Grummanns, 2 Mitsubishi Zeros, 2 Nakijima Franks, and 2 Aichi Vals. Its a start.
Which theater is your solo campaign taking place?

I have emailed all the Shapeways 1/144 WWI designers listed on the shop thread list asking to be notified when new planes are available. If they do, that would be great and I will be able to more easily keep this list up to date.

Funny, when I look under his airplane list they are not there. I only just now saw it looking at his whole list. Time to add links to each plane!

    Hi Peter

A good idea - I've got a few ideas and updates for you.

Originally we all posted about new planes in the shapeways releases section of this forum, which worked well for a while but we've been a bit lax with that lately. Not sure why.
Most of the WW1 aircraft models have now been made, I'm mostly making models others have done before (just because I enjoy making models)

I think it's probably best if we either just post on this thread or in the releases section so you can update from there.

If you're including prices, these vary by country depending on tax. Also it might be better to include the price column(s) last with a column for 1,2,3, or 4+ models, the current format is a bit confusing.

In spreadsheets you can copy and paste in hyperlinks - on each model there's a "permalink" just under the picture of the model (on the right side) that you can select the text, copy and paste this into a cell. This can also be converted to a real hyperlink so users can click on it in the spreadsheet to go straight to the model.

A few corrections on my models

I do a single model Albatros DIII http://shpws.me/p7BM (probably forgot to add it to the aircraft section like the DVIII)
    There's no Breguet D2 14 - that's the double model of the B2
    Junkers JI (not Jenny)
There's a single model of the Nieuport 24bis Lewis http://shpws.me/qwCz
You have 2 lines for the SE5a, the first is the double model.
    There's a double model for the Roland D2 http://shpws.me/oDnQ

    Cheers,

    Paul

I've started adding links to all the planes already, just haven't posted yet. Will do that when complete.
I've gone back and corrected typos like Junker Jenny. Funny how excel thinks its helping by filling in the cell for you. After I typed in the 'J' I moved on.
I noticed today and fixed it.
You shapeways guys don't make it easy. I have gone back and searched your whole lists where you hide WWI planes. I did find and add your FE8.
Also I just threw the prices up for a reference. They will probably change and I will not keep up with that. I'll delete prices.
I'll update the list later tomorrow.

If you are prepared to do it Peter time is of no consequence.

Paul, the first link for the Armstrong-Whitworth comes up as 1/72 scale. Is this correct?

    1/144 single version, much cheaper!

I got confused - the pictures look the same , the 1/72 version is a lot more expensive!
