New guys do have interesting takes on topics. These old surveys should be locked, though. They are important as a snapshot of the time it was initiated. Hence my suggestion that a new one should be started, asking for opinions, as a snapshot for today.
The Savoia-Marchetti SM.79 Sparviero is coming. It should be arriving just after the release of the Ju.88s and Do.17s, as the Blenheims and the SM.79 prototypes were done in conjunction with the German bombers.

Thread Necromancy? Almost. "Historical Research" perhaps.

I am thinking that the P38 and more P40's would be most welcome. Japan would need Betty's as well.
My answer is: those that participated in the major WWII air theaters/operations and are f l y a b l e according to WGS rules. It means no "Malaysians" at all nor French Dauntless' (but MS-406 for sure!), nor Dorniers 17/215 in night camo, nor Lancasters or Handley Page Halifaxes (which are definitely interesting planes).

I would agree that Ares ought to focus on aircraft of the major and minor powers (in rough ratio according to their involvement) that actively participated in the various theaters of WWII.
Everyone - including me - has their pet wants, but I think that sticking to aircraft that were actively used is the way to go.
