To the Bar gentlemen
To the Bar gentlemen
"He is wise who watches"
Yeah !!!!
To the bar ! I will have a Port, please
To the bar!
I'm having a cold beer!
Two beer and one Schnaps, please.
This will be a hard campaign.
Prost, Kameraden!
Thank you for your fondation engagement, Dave.
Voilŕ le soleil d'Austerlitz!
A cold beer will do. Won't be flying with you but I'll keep the mess warm and cosy every time you're gone flying. I'm looking forward on hearing the wild stories of all the adventures.
I'm already in Dover is that a good enough Port?
See you on the Dark Side......
Bad campaign to be in Dover, Neil... Just sayin...
Not the Port I was talking about, but probably a good port anyway
I've also been in a Kirk in Dunn or was that a Dun in Kirk, funny how the mind plays tricks the older you get.
See you on the Dark Side......
Iam sitting on a sunny beach on the Pacific Rim waiting for the *hit to hit the fan or rather the Japs to Hit Pearl Harbour.
The door open, a man staggers in, trips but manages not to fall, the room goes quiet as heads turn to see what the commotion is.
"Ah, found you at last, hic..... it only took me five pubs to find you, hic.....I had to buy a round in each, hic....."
He staggers to the bar and uses it to keep upright.
"Barman set me up an account, hic......Gentlemen a round of drinks on me, hic"
With that he passes out!

It seems popular opinion, anyone adverse to me re-naming the WTO as the ETO, European Theater of Operations? It will still cover the 4 main areas, BoB (from Fall of France/Dunkirk to BoB actual), Med (Gibraltar to Cairo and all points north and South between), Norway, Russia (includes Russo/Finnish war).
See you on the Dark Side......
Very soon my Hurricanes will take to the air, my Martlets will roar to be released from the carrier, my Gladiators will fly CAPs over their nest and slowly and ponderous, my Swordfishes will deliver their swimming bombs against those beautiful Italian cruisers. As I stand in a cold beach in Dover, drinking something strong and tasting what might be one of my last cigarettes I ask you, Neil, is that what you want from life? To change one letter from a group of words that in this day of early 1940 hasn't any meaning for me? Is that it? Well, then. Go right ahead, my friend.
Don't ponder over it too long dear chap. We need your Swordfish to bolster the defenses of this lovely isle. Come over here and join me in the sunshine enjoying whatever exotic wine you fancy along with the exotic beauties of the island, and that includes the scenery.
We will get enough red tape to wrap the whole Italian Navy soon enough without worrying over one letter.
I await your arrival with the utmost anticipation old friend.
Kyte.
"Courage is the art of being the only one who knows you're scared to death."
Dear Kyte:
Captain A. R. M. Bridge told me just this morning that we´re to make a run to boost the Mediterranean defenses and we'll take some planes to Malta.
Our sailing nest will be escorted by the light cruisers Birmingham and Liverpool and the destroyers Daring, Amazon and Ambuscade. We will be crowded with 6 extra planes (Gladiators) to go to Malta, but we'll manage.
I'll see you soon if I can manage to land in your beautiful island.
Your's,
Nicolau Lisbon
P.S. My brother (he's in France) sends you his regards.
London, May 15, 1940
Ah, the games afoot Watson. The principle players have begun to make their moves.
See you on the Dark Side......
Do not awake the sleeping giant, or you might regret your actions. Just saying...
Too much smalltalk here...
Better to drink a few Schnaps and prepare for the upcoming sorties.
Voilŕ le soleil d'Austerlitz!
OK, late as always, but my brave pilots have just managed to get out of the French coast
The Battle of France is over. The Battle of Britain has just begun...
Squadron formed
"We do not stop playing when we get old, but we get old when we stop playing."
One for Rob and Joaquim
What spot is it where the Fleet doth lie,
At anchor 'neath a cloudless sky,
Where Jack can't keep his 'mouthpiece' dry?
- It's Malta!
What place is it where the winds can blow,
Where the rain can rain, till it's touch-and-go-
Whether you'll swim your way down Strada or no?
- It's Malta!
Which Isle is this where Younger's stout,
Has caused the head of many a lout -
To swell three times its size? no doubt
- It's Malta!
Where can the eye with rapture gaze -
On a forest of masts, and funnels, and stays,
Where saving 'fag-packets' is quite a craze?
- It's Malta!
Where is it where the glaring sun
Will cause your margarine to run,
Until it's melted down to 'nun'?
- It's Malta
What blot is this upon the map
Where poets get the 'Doo-la-tap'
Because their poetic brains went snap?
- It sure is Malta!
See you on the Dark Side......
Following Neil's cue, for all us pilots in the Burning Skies:
The Fly
Little Fly,
Thy summer's play
My thoughtless hand
Has brushed away.
Am not I
A fly like thee?
Or art not thou
A man like me?
For I dance
And drink, and sing,
Till some blind hand
Shall brush my wing.
If thought is life
And strength and breath
And the want
Of thought is death;
Then am I
A happy fly,
If I live,
Or if I die.
William Blake
I am awaiting fast.gits orbat and I think the ETO is ready to go, unless we have any more takers to play.
See you on the Dark Side......
How to win a war with drunken hobby poets?
Voilŕ le soleil d'Austerlitz!
The poets usually win the wars.
"(...)
Rise up and brace your troops for the attack
Ah the dreamers ride against the men of action
Oh see the men of action falling back
(...)"
Leonard Cohen - The Traitor
Is this mess still open? If so, I would like a port, and orders where to land my planes.
Amazing what transpires while on leave for a couple of weeks.
Never fear Eric.
The Mess is open and on the ups,
with drunken poets in their cups.
On Malta's shore a Kyte now sups,
awaiting heroics from young pups,
who chase the clouds in ancient planes,
whilst ever freedoms hope remains.
Lest Mussolini seize the reins,
to bind its folk in Fascist chains.

"Courage is the art of being the only one who knows you're scared to death."
What poet would not grieve to see His breth'ren write as well as he? But rather than they should excel, He'd wish his rivals all in hell.
Jonathan Swift.
"Courage is the art of being the only one who knows you're scared to death."
Asked for a 'AAR' prefix option for the threads.
That is now in action - asked for a BRF prefix for briefings.
We now have both AAR & BRF prefixes - thanks Keith
It will be better organized that way. Thanks to all involved
A very good addition.
Rob.
"Courage is the art of being the only one who knows you're scared to death."
Thanks, Keith!
I have also retro fitted BRF into OTT & added it to all the briefing threads.
I will add the scenarios in their correct order to the campaign sticky. Tally Ho Red leader !!
Thank you for your engagement, Dave.
Unfortunately my rep point gun has jammed at the moment.
...has something to do wit your last OTT AAR.
